CVC Rhyming Flip Book Set Sight Word Activity Mats CVC Initial Sound Clip Cards
CVC Rhyming Flip Books
The full set contains 17 CVC rhyming flip books for the following word families:
-ag -at -ap -an -am

-ed -en -et
-ip -in -ig
-op -ot
-ub -ug -ut -un
Each book contains the following pages:
1. Cover Page - with word family identification and name box

2. Word Page Flap- beginning letter flap and word/picture cards to cut off
3. Word Page Flap - beginning letter flap and word/picture cards to cut off
4. Full Word Page - Word page with full CVC word
5. Writing Practice Page (optional*) - Word trace and write page
Kids can work on the following activities with the books:
- Color the black and white images

- Read the simple sentences and see the word in context
- Find and circle the focus word in the sentence
- Discuss beginning sounds as they turn the page, change the beginning sound, and create
new word.
- Discuss rhyming and create additional rhyming words
- Use the blending dots below each letter to work on blending and phoneme segmentation.
- Trace and write each word
When you assemble the books, you will cut off a set of word and picture cards. They can be used in the
following ways:
- Match the word and pictures and glue on the back of a book
- Play a matching game
- Add to a word ring
- Add to a sensory table or bin

Assembly Instructions:
1. Print a set of CVC books and place the set in a neat pile.
Please note that one set will create four little flip books
for your students. Copy additional pages as needed.
2. Place two staples on the left side of each of the four

little books in the set. See staples in the illustration.
3. Open the set of stapled books and cut out the

word and picture cards from page 2 and 3 (the word
flap pages) *Optional....kids can cut these out from
their individual books instead. See the previous page
for ideas for using these word cards.
4. Close the set of books. Using the dotted lines on

the 1st page as a guide, cut the set of CVC books. After
cutting, you will have four little books.
