Easter Egg matching - get practice matching the note name to the note on the staff - there should
be plenty for everyone to do some so just work on your own practice, it’s not a race
Slap card game - This is a race game - students will take turns rolling a dice - you have a key that
will tell you which note goes with which number you roll. * demo example * - you’ll want to
spread the cards up and mix them up. If you’re the first to slap it, you get to keep the card and the
goal is to have the most cards. Please be safe and don’t slap each other. Once you get through one
Twister - you have a spinner that lists out the note names - we’ll need one kid in each group to
take a turn being the spinner, which is a very important job. They’ll spin to get the note name and
they will get to CHOOSE the body part. * demo example * - once someone falls, they will switch
Musical words - I have written some musical words on these cards, and it’s your job to figure out
what those words are, and then for fun and extra practice you can play them on the mallets. If you
get through them all, see if you can make up your own words.
III. Stations
Easter Egg matching - each half of an egg has the name of a note and the note written on it and
Slap card game - cards with the notes on them are laid out and students spin a spinner that
determines which note they need to slap. Whoever wins gets to keep the card and the person with
Twister - students spin a spinner that determines which note they need to put a body part on

Really came to be in the 1700s - dance masters would go around to villages and teach people how
to do group dances
There’s very little upper body movement and really quick, small feet movements because they
would learn dances in restaurants and barns with lots of people and there wasn’t room to move
around
Competitions became popular, Riverdance started in 1994 and toured the world
