Experiences

I. Review

 Students will review the space and line notes

II. Explanation of Stations

 Easter Egg matching - get practice matching the note name to the note on the staff - there should

be plenty for everyone to do some so just work on your own practice, it’s not a race

 Slap card game - This is a race game - students will take turns rolling a dice - you have a key that

will tell you which note goes with which number you roll. * demo example * - you’ll want to

spread the cards up and mix them up. If you’re the first to slap it, you get to keep the card and the

goal is to have the most cards. Please be safe and don’t slap each other. Once you get through one

round, play another if you still have time.

 Twister - you have a spinner that lists out the note names - we’ll need one kid in each group to

take a turn being the spinner, which is a very important job. They’ll spin to get the note name and

they will get to CHOOSE the body part. * demo example * - once someone falls, they will switch

with the spinner so they can have a turn.

 Musical words - I have written some musical words on these cards, and it’s your job to figure out

what those words are, and then for fun and extra practice you can play them on the mallets. If you

get through them all, see if you can make up your own words.

III. Stations

 Easter Egg matching - each half of an egg has the name of a note and the note written on it and

the students have to match them

 Slap card game - cards with the notes on them are laid out and students spin a spinner that

determines which note they need to slap. Whoever wins gets to keep the card and the person with

the most cards wins the game

 Twister - students spin a spinner that determines which note they need to put a body part on
 Play words on mallet instruments - students will look at cards with notes written on them that

spell words, they will figure out what the word is and then play it on the mallet instruments
