MONDAY—EVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Psalms 97-99
Monday, May 14
Eccl. 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no
work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Lord and Loving God:
I pray today for what I can do that is possible, what I can do in the
present, and what I can do promptly with the time that is left.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, refers to things possible for me. My heart
finds many things to do that my arms will never achieve. If I want to accomplish
anything I have to go beyond the intention and proceed to the action. That
means, I must carry out the job my hand finds, even if my heart is not in it.
So one real witness is worth a thousand wishes about witnessing. Do not let
me wait for the large crowds when just one neighbor, one family member, one
friend like _________ or _________, will do. I do not need a different line of
work; I just need to do the things my hand findeth to do in any given day.
I have no other time in which to live than now! I need not wait until I grow
more mature before I start serving. Help me serve you right in the present. I
want to bring forth fresh fruit for today, so let me do it with my might.
I have to do it promptly. Nothing gets accomplished by doing it tomorrow
(or next week). The only way I can honor Christ is in the things I find to do
today. Help me throw my whole soul into getting others the gospel. Have I made
mistakes? I cannot look back, because my decisions can only affect the future.
Yet where is my might Lord, if not in you? The only thing I am perfect in is
weakness. Today I look to the Strong One for his strength to be mine. I seek
your help by proceeding with prayer and faith. And then, when I have done what
my hand findeth to do, let me wait on you for the blessing. That is the only way what
I do will be well done and to your glory. Amen.

TUESDAY—FOCUS ON CHRIST’S LIFE

Tuesday, May 15
John 13:1 Jesus…having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto
the end.
Holy Lord and Heavenly Father:
You may cast away for a reason, and you may cast away for a season. I may
take off my jewelry for a time, but I do not forsake it, nor throw it in the trash.
Just so, it is not like you Lord, to cast off those whom you love,
Lam. 3:31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
Some people teach I can gain salvation by faith, then lose it by faults. The
Bible says, not so! Your grace is more abiding, being based on a finished work.
If you chose me from eternity past, then you will love me through eternity
future. Since you loved me so much as to die for me, I can be sure your love will
never die. Like some superhero, it passed through death for me and still lives on.
Your honor is so wrapped-up in my salvation that you could sooner cast off your
robe of glory than cast me away.
Just like the head never cuts off an arm, and the groom never rejects a
bride, so my salvation is secure. But some people, who could have that same
secure salvation, do not even know the gospel exists. Let me not be selfish in this.
Help me today get a word in edgewise—a lifeline of hope in Jesus.
Why should I think so evil of the Lord as to feel cast off when I am not
(yea, I cannot be)? Let me cast off those unworthy thoughts! Keep them from
lodging in my soul today, Lord. Like a weed or an unwanted wasp’s nest, let me
cast them down by the tool of your word, and look to you for all my security and
self-esteem. I am righteous in Christ. This is the only place self-worth is found.
This is why I can count on you for revival, because
Rom. 11:2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew.
FRIDAY— CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY

Friday, May 18
Isa. 33:21 But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and
streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.
Glorious Lord and Loving Savior:
Be to us a wide river nourishing fertile fields of ministry! Bring us a stream
of fruit in souls, and abundance in our house of worship. Spots near rivers are
extraordinary for their diversity, their variety, and their abundant harvests. Make
our address and location just that, because you are a “broad river” to us.
HAVING YOU WE HAVE ABUNDANCE. What can we ask that you will not
provide?
Isa. 25:6 And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a
feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees
well refined.
We want the bread of life for lost souls! Let the Rock follow us in all our
events and activities (and that Rock is Christ). If we see no one saved it is our
own fault, because the bottleneck is in us and not in you.
HAVING YOU WE HAVE BUSINESS. Ministry is a free market, and whenever
we give up we also gain. Through Christ we can trade on the past (accessing the
wealth of Calvary, the treasures of the covenant, and the storehouse of eternity).
We have options on the future also, with the Holy Spirit as the down payment of
our inheritance. All this comes to us, flowing down the broad stream of
HAVING YOU WE HAVE SECURITY. In olden times rivers were a defense. In
our times, the Devil cannot cross the river of Christ to hinder us. He cannot stem
the tide of the Spirit. No galley with oars can disturb our peace in Christ. Help us
access him this weekend for all we need for our ministries. In Jesus’ name we ask.
WEDNESDAY—REVIVAL PRAYING

Wednesday, May 16
† Isa. 55:10-11 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and
returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may
give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my
mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall
prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Heavenly Father and Holy Lord:
Every day I am challenged to be in your word and receive your mind. I
thank you for the accountability others in my church provide. I thank you for the
preaching services, and the Bible studies, and the discipleship ministry, and the
men’s and women’s ministries. My faith could not believe without receiving your
wisdom, so I know when I trust the revelation in your Bible that I do not believe
in vain. No verse has ever failed me; no statement has ever fallen to the ground
without producing fruit. But today I need insight from your foresight in spite of
what is within my eye-sight!
Psa. 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
I put myself into the Bible’s hands for guidance. I know not the way I
should choose today. Lord, you choose for me!
! I need your advice because my duties are complicated—at work and home
! I need your advice because my relationships are involved—at church and at
work
! I need your advice because my circumstances are convoluted sometimes
Therefore I seek to the High Priest, and look into the counsel of an
infallible, absolute guide—in preference to my peers’ advice, and in preference to
my own judgment—for every decision today. The just ended and summer is
about to start. Guide me for life as I get into your word this year. Amen.
SATURDAY—IN THE PSALMS

Saturday, May 19
Psa. 47:6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
Gracious God:
I need a higher state of praise! Living for you is such a delight; why do I let
it burn me out? The best part—the singing of praise songs—brings so much
peace and power I cannot overdo it. This is what will keep me from getting lazy.
Father I thank you that you turned us into a church which cannot sing
without clapping its hands. Clapping is the most natural and enthusiastic
expression of praise—and fitting in view of your victories for us. My joy in you
may be too emotional for some people, but you will not criticize me for it.
You are no local tribal deity; no petty ruler. You are infinite in your majesty
because you are effective in your activity. You rule in the highest realms. You are
the sole monarch of all creation, the King of all kings and Lord of all rulers. Not
a single village or island (or home) is excluded from your attention. How glorious
will be that time when all people finally see this, and admit it by their praise;
when, in the person of your Son the Lord Jesus, everyone beholds your glory!
The battle is not mine, but yours. It is your fight Lord, even though the
adversary seems to be attacking me directly. You choose your own time not ours,
but you will achieve sure and certain victory for us. Make truth and
righteousness climb to the top through your grace.
There is no doubt about the outcome of the battles I face. The most
rebellious hearts and stubborn wills have to submit to your all-conquering grace.
Let your people clap their hands this Sunday, because your victory belongs to us.
Give those who labor and suffer most the largest share of rejoicing! Make me
fully obedient to your reign. I submit my will, my choice, and my desire
completely to you, Jesus. Amen.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
“Oh,” says one, “I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer.” And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into God’s presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayer—the posture, the
time, place—rather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
