Principles of Lean Manufacturing

A Lean Enterprise produces more with existing resources by eliminating non-value-added activities. Manufacturers are facing increased
worldwide competition and the stakes are high. Lean establishes a systematic approach to eliminating waste and creating flow throughout the
whole company. It also helps you develop and implement a long term-plan to streamline your operations for success. Training classes scheduled
for groups of 15 or more students. For scheduling or further details, please call (803) 691-3911.

Mistake Proofing
Mistake proofing (also called error proofing or poke yoke) is a highly efficient and cost-effective method for preventing defects. Learn the
different mistake-proofing methods and see examples of mistake proofing in real world environments. The focus of this seminar is to find
technical, not behavioral, solutions for process problems. In addition to the traditional manufacturing application, transactional, safety and
environmental examples are also covered.

Total Productive Maintenance

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is a process to maximize the productivity of your equipment for its entire life. TPM fosters an environment
where improvement efforts in safety, quality, delivery, cost and creativity are encouraged through the participation of all employees. The goal of
TPM is to maximize your Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and to reduce equipment downtime to zero while improving quality and
capacity. Training classes scheduled for groups of four or more students. For scheduling or further details, please call (803) 691-3911.

Set-up Reduction (SMED)

Set-up Reduction builds on the principles of the Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) system, developed by Shigeo Shingo, to dramatically
reduce or eliminate changeover time. The four-step Changeover Improvement Process is used to help companies design no or low-cost solutions
to reduce changeover time. Companies that use SMED tools to ensure changeovers are quick and relatively simple are typically much more
agile; they can quickly change production operations to satisfy changing customer requirements. Training classes scheduled for groups of six
or more students. For scheduling or further details, please call (803) 691-3911.

Value Stream Mapping

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a tool used to create a material and information flow map of a product or process. This powerful tool allows
companies to map the flow of products and information from order to cash as well as throughout the supply chain. Based on the company’s value
stream map, work processes can be streamlined, thereby cutting lead times and reducing operating costs. Training classes scheduled for groups
of four or more students. For scheduling or further details, please call (803) 691-3911.

Lean Certificate Programs

The Center for Quality offers customized Lean Certificate Programs for companies. Lean Certificate Programs are tailored to individual company
needs to ensure the Lean tools and techniques that are most applicable to the business will be taught and mastered. These programs combine
classroom training with hands-on application of tools within the company to develop lean leaders and continuous improvement managers.
Training classes scheduled for groups of four or more students. For scheduling or further details, please call (803) 691-3911.

Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) with Control Plans and Reaction Plans
Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) is a proactive and systematic approach that identifies potential failure modes in a process.
PFMEA enables organizations to evaluate and prioritize risks and then take targeted action to reduce risk. This practical tool leads to proactively
addressing potential quality, cost, safety and delivery concerns. This workshop-intensive seminar addresses each step of the PFMEA process and
allows participants to work in a team environment during the construction of a PFMEA.
