To Whom It May Concern,

Alisha McFadyen was a teacher candidate in my grade one class at Forest Hill School, from March of
2018 until May, 2018. This was Alisha’s second placement to fulfil the requirements for the practical
experience for her Bachelor of Education Degree from Saint Thomas University. During these months,
Alisha gradually took on the full responsibilities of a class room teacher, and she did an amazing job,
exceeding all of my expectations for a student intern. Alisha demonstrated excellent professional
qualities, including, punctuality and her openness for constructive feedback. She displayed self-
confidence and exercised sound professional judgment. Alisha is very committed to teaching and
displayed a very positive attitude and manner each and every day.

Alisha developed a wonderful rapport with the children and she was very approachable. I saw this
connection to the children as an outstanding quality. Alisha created a comfortable and safe environment
for the children and worked hard to establish clear, effective routines and implemented positive
disciplinary strategies to encourage appropriate behavior. Alisha always demonstrated respect for the
children, staff and the parents.

Alisha made a great effort to learn the curriculum outcomes and had great knowledge of subject
content. She consistently used I Can Statements when teaching the learning targets. She provided a
criteria for success which ensured students knew not only what the learning goals were, but what the
students needed to do, in order to be successful learners. Alisha effectively engaged the children in their
learning by using a variety of creative approaches. Lesson planning was a real strength for Alisha, and
she independently created exceptional plans for delivering required outcomes. She demonstrated
sensitivity to the developmental level of each student, recognizing strengths and weaknesses which
resulted in differentiated instruction in order to meet the individual needs.

Alisha was aware of the importance of formative assessment and using this data to direct instruction.
She had the opportunity to learn about many ways to collect data on both formatively and in a
summative manner.

Alisha is a kind and compassionate young woman and she was a wonderful addition to our classroom. I
would highly recommend Alisha for a full time teaching position at any grade level.

Sincerely,

Patti Holloway
