Punked

My punk-spirited sister made a wish

for a light nice sweater that had holes
but would still be warm. She made
some drawings and based on them I
knitted a sweater – Punked was born.

Pattern fits different sizes because it’s

kind of big. The sleeves are very long
and one should resize them if needed.

Read the pattern through carefully

before starting.

Cast on 140 stitches. Knit 70 st, pm , knit 70 st, pm. There should be a marker in the beginning of
the round and in the middle of the round. Continue circular knitting until work measures 30 cm.
Then start decreasing for the waist:

*Knit 5 st from the beginning of the round, knit 2 tog,. Knit until there's 7 s before next marker, skp
(slip, knit, pass over), sm, knit 5 st, knit 2 tog, knit until there's 7 st before next marker, skp.*

Knit 1 round and repeat *-*: knit 4 st from the beginning of the round and decreasing when there's
6 st left.

Knit 5 rounds. And then start increasing: **Knit 3 st from the beginning of the row. Increase by
working into front and back of 4th st. Knit until there's 4 st left before next marker, incs, knit, sm,
knit 3, incs 4th st, knit until there's 4 sts left before next marker, incs, knit end of the round.**

There should be 4 more sts after this round. Knit one round and repeat **-**. Knit until work
measures 55 cm (armpit). Leave stitches waiting on a stitch holder or waste yarn.

Sleeves
Cast on double pointed needles 32 stitches and divide
them on four needles. Knit 3 rounds in stockinette
stitch and then start knitting pattern:

1st round *knit 2 st tog, yarn over*, repeat *-* until the
end of the round.

2nd round: knit

Repeat rounds 1. - 2. until the sleeve measures 35 cm

when mildly stretched. Knit increase round: in the
beginning of the stockinette stitch round knit 1, yarn
over, knit until 1st left, yarn over, and knit last st.

Continue rounds 1. - 2. until the sleeve measures 70

cm mildly stretched or is the lengt you want it to be.
Leave sts on waste yarn to wait. Knit other sleeve.

Combining pieces

Combine the pieces and move stitches: put sleeves 3 first and last st on a safety pin or a stitch
holder. From the body piece put 3 st on the both sides of the marker on the other holder. Combine
the other sleeve same way. Move stitches on the circular needle. Start knitting in round on the
beginning of the sleeve (no matter witch one).

On the circular needle order should be: in the seam of the body and sleeve piece marker, sleeve 28
st, marker, marker, 64 st, marker, 28 st, marker, 64 st. Knit 2 rounds until there's 4 st left on the
round. Remember to place safety pins/holders opposite to each other.

Start decreases as doing raglan: skp, knit 2, sm, knit 2. *Knit, until there's 4 st before next marker,
skp, knit 2, sm, knit 2, knit 2 tog. Knit one round.*
Repeat *-* 3 more times. Then start knit 1, purl -ribbing and continue it 4 rounds. Cast off tightly.
This is the part that keeps the shirt so it won't fall. Make sure the tightness is right for your
shoulders.

Finishing

Bind off armipit seams using three needle bind off. Weave in ends.

Straps: Cast on 3 stitches and knit with i-cord until the straps are long enough. Notice that you need
to stretch straps to the maximum when you measure them. Attach the straps to the casted off round
in the front and the back to hold the shirt up.
