JUNE/JULY NEWSLETTER

REPORT CARDS/BOOK FINES: Your child’s 4th quarter report card should be included with
this mailing. However, if they still have a book fine we ask that you stop by the office to pick up
the report card and take care of your child’s outstanding fine. If the letter indicates they are
missing a textbook – please check their room, etc. as we would prefer the original book rather
than having to purchase a new one.

MATH AND LITERACY GOALS: Also included in this mailing is an informational packet
that shares the success we had this year in meeting our building established math and literacy
goals. These goals are established in each building district wide by our building team leaders
(with input from our entire staff) during our summer data retreat and all teachers are expected to
support them throughout the academic year. Our goals for the 2007-08 were:

Literacy: If we provide collaborative time to design and implement strategies for constructed response
opportunities in all content areas, will all students demonstrate proficiency on a prompted constructed
response as measured by a teacher created rubric by May 1, 2008.

Math: If we provide collaborative time to design and implement strategies to apply math computations in
all content areas, will all students demonstrate proficiency on a math computation assessment by May 1,
2008.

Overall, we are very pleased with our results but also realize that we need to keep working
toward 100% proficiency. If you have questions or concerns about the results – please feel free to
contact me at 929-2850.

GOOD LUCK 8TH GRADE: We send our best wishes to all of our 8th grade students (and their
parent/guardians) that are moving on to the high school next year! We’ve enjoyed having them as
middle school students and wish them the best in their future!

THANK YOU! We would like to thank the following parents that helped out with the 8th grade
Cookout on June 5th: Lewis Rosser, Anne Lisowe, Becky Schlagenhaft, Kathy Carlone, Dawn
Mueller-Stacey, Jill Olsen, Barb Dilling, Heidi Schmidt, Sue Stoll, Sherry Theisen, Kathy Sinotte,
Bonnie Hermanny and Sandra Harn. It was great to have so many parents at the event and it
would not have been as successful without you!

WELCOME OUR NEW GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

Theisen Middle School is happy to announce that their new Guidance Counselor will be Mrs.
Breese. Mrs. Breese is coming to Theisen from Lakeshore/Roberts Elementary School and we
are happy to have her join our team

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS: The Theisen office hours will be 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. throughout the
summer. Due to secretarial and administrative vacation days and meetings, you may want to call
the office before stopping by to make sure someone is in the office (929-2850).
SUPPLY LIST: A supply list for the 2008-09 school year is also enclosed with this mailing.
This will also be posted out on our website and is always available in the school office. It can also
be found at local businesses throughout Fond du Lac.

BUILDING CHANGES: Our building will be getting an inside “Extreme Home Makeover”
this summer by our district maintenance department We hope your students will like our new
look (that includes a fresh coat of paint in many rooms, new carpet and tile on the second floor
and new wallpaper in several rooms and areas) when they return. Due to all of this work, our
building will be in disarray throughout the summer so please follow the signs if you do need to
come to the office. A good rule of thumb is to always call ahead and make sure you can enter the
building and/or get to your destination.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
