I. Standards:

A. National Core Art Standards

a. VA:Cr1.2.2a: Make art or design with various materials and tools to
explore personal interests, questions, and curiosity.
B. ISTE
a. Empowered Learner 1c: Students use technology to seek feedback that
informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in
a variety of ways.
b. Innovative Designer 4b: Students select and use digital tools to plan and
manage a design process that considers design constraints and calculated
risks.
c. Computational Thinker 5b: Students collect data or identify relevant data
sets, use digital tools to analyze them and represent data in various ways
to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making.

II. Lesson Objectives

a. Content Area
i. Students will be able to identify Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Colors.
ii. Students will be able to create their own Color Wheel using Primary and
Secondary colors.
iii. Students will be able to distinguish several everyday examples of each
Primary and Secondary color.
b. Technology
i. Students will be able to demonstrate how to explore the instructor’s
website to retrieve resources for the lesson.
ii. Students will be able to identify what they already know about color
through an online pre-assessment on Quizizz.
iii. Students will be able to apply their knowledge about color and the color
wheel to create their own color wheel with Paint, using only Primary and
Secondary Colors.
iv. Students will be able to construct their own slide show presentation on
Google Slides about each Primary and Secondary color, providing at least
4 examples of different objects that are that specific color.
III. Introduce the Activity
a. The teacher will introduce the lesson topic to the class. The link for the Quizizz
and the code to access the quiz will be written on the board. The teacher will
inform students that the Quizizz will be measuring how much he/she remembers
about colors and will serve as a warm-up for the rest of the lesson/future
activities.
IV. Provide Information
a. Students will be provided a reference sheet at the beginning of class which will
have a picture of the color wheel. This may be used throughout the lesson as a
resource.
V. Provide Practice
a. Students will be able to open up an internet browser and type in the provided
link for the quiz on Quizizz, followed by the specific code for the class. After
students have completed the quiz, they will be able to navigate to Paint and
begin to create their own Color Wheel using the Color Wheel the teacher has
provided as a reference. The goal is to replicate the color wheel to the best of
their ability.
b. Students will be able to practice their understanding of color and provide it to
everyday life by making a slide show presentation, designating each color to
their own slide and provide 4 examples of said color with objects, nature, food,
etc.
VI. Provide Knowledge of Results
a. The teacher will automatically have access to results from the Quizizz on the
website itself. Quizizz provides statistical information on each student’s progress
throughout the quiz.
b. The teacher will walk around the classroom and provide students with
encouraging and positive narrative while helping students in the event they need
assistance.
c. The teacher will provide feedback for the slideshow presentation. Each slide will
include written feedback- positive narrative and corrections in the event the
student needs to improve on their presentation.
VII. Review
a. The teacher will use the Random Name Picker on Class Tools to facilitate a
conversation about what students liked and disliked about the lesson. The
teacher will allow each student to speak up in order to receive student-based
feedback.
VIII. Methods of Assessment
a. I will assess on whether or not students know vocabulary terms based on the
progress and results of the Quizizz. Quizizz provides statistical data on the result
and pinpoints which questions students had the most difficulty with based on
the amount of time taken for each question.
b. I will assess student’s knowledge of the paint tool by walking around the
classroom and checking each student’s progress. If the final product replicates
the one that the teacher has created, I will know that students know how to
properly make a color wheel using Paint.
c. I will assess whether students know primary and secondary colors by connecting
colors to real-life objects, food, nature, etc. within a Google Slides presentation.
Students will receive full credit if they provide 4 examples for each color and
have all 6 colors within the presentation.
