AIM: To draw the given 2D sketch using CATIA V5 R20 in sketcher module.

TOOL BARS USED:

a. Profile
b. Sketch tools
c. Transformation
d. Predefined profile

PROCEDURE:

1. Select start Mechanical Design Sketcher.


2. XY Plane was selected.
3. Select Tools Options Parameters and measure Units set Length (mm), Angle (deg).
4. Two concentric circles, (“circle.1”, “circle.2”) was drawn at origin (0,0) with diameters (60, 80)
using “circle” tool in circle tool bar.
5. “Circle.1” with diameter 60 was converted into construction element using “construction/
Standard element” tool in Sketch tools tool bar.
6. A circle (“circle.3”) was drawn at (0, 30) with diameter 10.
7. “circle.3” is rotated with origin as center, with 5 instances and with 720 angle using “rotate” tool
in Transformation tool bar.
8. A cylindrical elongated hole (say “CEH.1”) is created at (0,60) with radius 10 and angle (+450CW,
-450CCW) using “cylindrically elongated hole” in Predefined profile tool bar.
9. A cylindrically elongated hole (say “CEH.2”) is created at (0,60) with radius 15 and angle
(+450CW, -450CCW).
10. “circle.12” was created tangent to “circle.2” and “CEH.2” with radius 5 using “Three point
circle” in circle tool bar.
11. “circle.12” was mirrored with respect to vertical axis to create “circle.13” using “mirror” tool in
transformation tool bar
12. The geometries “circle.12”, “circle.13”, “CEH.1” and “CEH.2” was mirrored with respect to
horizontal axis.
13. All the geometries that are not required was trimmed using “quick trim” tool in relimitations tool
bar.
14. All the geometries were constrained both dimensionally and geometrically with respect to
horizontal and vertical axis by using “constraints” tool bar.

RESULT:

Thus the given 2D sketch was drawn and constrained geometrically and dimensionally in
SKETCHER module of CATIA V5 R20.

AIM: To draw the given 2D sketch using CATIA V5 R20 in sketcher module.

PROCEDURE:
1. Select start Mechanical Design Sketcher.
2. XY Plane was selected.
3. Select Tools Options Parameters and measure Units set Length (mm), Angle (deg).
4. Three concentric circles, (“circle.1”, “circle.2”, “circle.3”) was drawn at origin (0,0) with diameters
(50, 68, 85) using “circle” tool in circle tool bar.
5. “Circle.2” with diameter 68 was converted into construction element using “construction/
Standard element” tool in Sketch tools tool bar.
6. A “circle.4” was drawn at (0, 68) with diameter 8.
7. “circle.4” was rotated with origin as center, with 6 instances and with 600 angle using “rotate” tool
in Transformation tool bar.
8. A “circle.10” was drawn at (0, -70) with diameter 22.
9. “Axis.1” line making an angle of 450 CW with respect to vertical was created.
10. “Arc.1” was drawn with origin as center and radius 70 using “Arc” tool in circle tool bar and was
converted into construction element.
11. A “circle.11” with diameter 22 was drawn at coincidence point of Axis.1 and Arc.1
12. A cylindrical elongated hole (say “CEH.1”) was created at (0,70) with radius 20 and angle
(+450CW, -450CCW) using “cylindrically elongated hole” in Predefined profile tool bar.
13. “circle.14” was created tangent to “circle.3” and “CEH.1” with radius 8 using “Three point circle”
in circle tool bar.
14. “circle.11” and “circle.14” was mirrored with respect to vertical axis to create “circle.15” and
“circle.16” using “mirror” tool in transformation tool bar
15. All the geometries that are not required was trimmed using “quick trim” tool in relimitations tool
bar.
16. All the geometries were constrained both dimensionally and geometrically with respect to
horizontal and vertical axis by using “constraints” tool bar.

RESULT:

Thus the given 2D sketch was drawn and constrained geometrically and dimensionally in
SKETCHER module of CATIA V5 R20.

PROCEDURE:
1. Select start Mechanical Design Sketcher.
2. XY Plane was selected.
3. Select Tools Options Parameters and measure Units set Length (mm), Angle (deg).
4. Three concentric circles, (“circle.1”, “circle.2”, “circle.3”) was drawn at origin (0,0) with
diameters (28, 48, 70) using “circle” tool in circle tool bar.
5. “Circle.2” with diameter 48 was converted into construction element using “construction/
Standard element” tool in Sketch tools tool bar.
6. A “circle.4” was drawn at (48,0) with diameter 8.
7. “circle.4” was rotated with origin as center, with 6 instances and with 600 angle using “rotate” tool
in Transformation tool bar.
8. Two symmetrical circles (“circle.5”, “circle.6”) with center distance of 84 and diameter 18 was
drawn parallel to horizontal axis at a distance 72 from origin.
9. An elongated hole of radius 18 was drawn concentric with “circle.5” and “circle.6”.
10. A horizontal line “line.1” of length 84 was drawn at a distance of 102 from the origin.
11. Two symmetrical parallel vertical lines (“line.2”, “line.3”) with center distance 28 were drawn
tangent to “circle.2” and elongated hole.
12. The upper ends of “line.2”and “line.3” were cornered with radius 10 using “corner” tool in
operations tool bar.
13. The bottom ends of “line.2”and “line.3” were cornered with radius 8.
14. The ends of the “line.1” were cornered with radius 10 and made tangent to the elongated hole.
15. Two lines “line.4” and “line.5” were drawn tangent to the “circle.3 and on either sides elongated
hole.
16. All the geometries that are not required was trimmed using “quick trim” tool in relimitations tool
bar.
17. All the geometries were constrained both dimensionally and geometrically with respect to
horizontal and vertical axis by using “constraints” tool bar.

RESULT:

Thus the given 2D sketch was drawn and constrained geometrically and dimensionally in
SKETCHER module of CATIA V5 R20.

PROCEDURE:

2. XY Plane was selected.
3. Select Tools Options Parameters and measure Units set Length (mm), Angle (deg).
4. Three concentric circles (circle.1, circle.2, circle.3) were drawn with diameters (28, 44, 60) at
origin (0,0) using circle tool in circle tool bar.
5. A circle (circle.4) was drawn at (44,0) with diameter 8.
6. Circle.4 was rotated in 6 instances with origin as rotation center using rotate tool in transformation
tool bar.
7. A cylindrically elongated hole (CH1) was drawn with minimum radius 64 and maximum radius 84
from origin and with angle 45o CW and 30o CCW with respect to vertical axis.
8. A cylindrically elongated hole (CH2) was drawn with minimum radius 54 and maximum radius 94
from origin and with angle 45o CW and 30o CCW with respect to vertical axis.
9. A three point arc (arc.1) was drawn tangent to the left of circle.3 and CH2 with radius 25 using
three point arc in circle tool bar.
10. A three point arc (arc.2) was drawn tangent to the right of circle.3 and CH2 with radius 82 using
three point arc in circle tool bar.
11. All the geometries that are not required were trimmed using “Quick trim” tool in “Re-limitations”
tool bar.
12. All the geometries were constrained both dimensionally and geometrically with respect to
horizontal and vertical axis by using “constraint” tool bar.

RESULT:

Thus the given 2D sketch was drawn and constrained geometrically and dimensionally in

5. Two horizontal lines (line.1, line.2) of length 15 was drawn at a distance of 4 above and below
from origin and made tangent to circle.2 and circle.3.
6. The lines (line.1, line.2) were rotated with origin as center at 6 instances and with 600 angle using
“rotate” tool in transformation tool bar.
7. Two concentric circles (circle.4,circle.5) was drawn at a point (53,-40) with diameters (42,22)
using circle tool in circle tool bar.
8. Two concentric circles (circle6,circle7) was drawn at a point (40,-78) with diameters (32,16) using
circle tool in circle tool bar.
9. The circles circles (circle.8, circle.9, circle.10, circle.11) were drawn by mirroring circles (circle.4,
circle.5, circle.6, circle.7) with respect to vertical axis using mirror tool in transformation toolbar.
10. A line (line.3) tangent to circle.1 and circle.4 was drawn using line tool in line toolbar.
11. A line (line.4) was drawn tangent to circle.4 and circle.6 by using line tool in line toolbar.
12. The lines (line.5, line.6) were drawn by mirroring (line.3, line.4) with respect to vertical axis.
13. An arc (arc.1) was drawn tangent to the circle.6 and circle.10 with radius 24 using three point arc
in circle toolbar.
14. All the geometries that are not required were trimmed using “quick trim” tool in “relimitations”
toolbar.
15. All the geometries were constrained both dimensionally and geometrically with respect to
horizontal and vertical axis by using “constrains” toolbar.

RESULT:

diameters(82,64,53) using circle tool in circle tool bar.
5. An axis line (axis.1) was created at angle of 30o with respect to vertical axis.
6. Two circles (circle.4, circle.5) was drawn on the axis.1 at distance of 24 and 44 from the surface of
circle.1.
7. A concentric circle, circle.6 was drawn on axis.1 at a distance of 44 from the surface of circle.1.
8. Two symmetrical circles (circle.7,circle.8) was drawn at a distance of 41 from the vertical axis and
-35 from the horizontal axis.
9. Two circles (circle.9,circle.10)with radius 12 were drawn concentric to circle.7 and circle.8.
10. A horizontal line line.1 was drawn tangent to circle.9 and circle.10
11. Two symmetrical parallel lines (line.2, line.3) were drawn on either side of the axis.1 and made

5. Two concentric circles (circle.3, circle.4) was drawn at (37, 27) with radius 15 and 6.
6. Circle.3 and circle.4 were mirrored with respect horizontal axis to create circle.5 and circle.6 using
mirror tool in transformation tool bar
7. A three point arc (arc.1) was drawn tangent to circle.3 and circle.5 with radius 60.
8. An arc.2 was created tangent to circle.1 and circle.3 with radius12.
9. Arc.2 was mirrored with respect to horizontal to create arc.3.
10. A construction circle circle.7 was drawn with origin as center and radius 60
11. A cylindrically elongated hole (CH.1) with radius 14 was created on circle.7 and at the top of
circle.1 with starting point on vertical axis and ending point 30o with vertical axis.
12. A cylindrically elongated hole (CH.2) with radius 10 was created on circle.7 and at the top of
circle.1 with starting point on vertical axis and ending point 30o with vertical axis.
13. The cylindrically elongated hole CH.1 was connected to circle.1 tangentially with an arc (arc.3) of

15. The CH.1, CH.2, arc.3, arc.2, line.1 were mirrored with respect to horizontal axis to create CH.3,

toolbar.
17. All the geometries were constrained both dimensionally and geometrically with respect to
horizontal and vertical axis by using “constrains” toolbar.
