IMPACT OF HAZE HAZARD TO THE HUMAN HEALTH

The haze has cause negative impacts to the country. They are health, social,
environmental and economic impacts. The health impact of exposure to particulate matter in
the air depends on the concentration and duration of the exposure, as well as the health status
and level of activity of the individual. In general, children, elderly, and people with chronic
lung disease, heart disease are more sensitive to the health effects of haze, and should adopt
the preventive measures in the MOH health advisory when air quality is poor. Individuals are
advised to consult their doctor should they develop breathing difficulties. In addition, it is
advised that pregnant women reduce exposure to haze for the health of their unborn
baby.Reducing outdoor activities and physical exertion can help limit the effects from haze
exposure.

These vulnerabilities reflect multiple factors, including population demographics, the

presence of sensitive residents, and ability to mitigate exposure to pollutants (world health
organization,2014). A growing body of literature has associated smoke exposure with a wide
range of health outcomes, including systemic and pulmonary inflammation (Ghio etal,2012),
reduced lung function (aditama,2000) reduced birth weight (Holstius,reid,2003), increased
cardiopulmonary emergency room visits and hospital admissions ( kim et al,2014), and
elevated population mortality (Johnston,Haningan,Hendereson,Morgan & Bowman,2011).
Community evacuations are one type of intervention used to mitigate the health risks posed
by wildfires and their haze.

The covered the whole area of the city in siak so that visibility is getting shorter. The
smoke has harmful for health. breathing was heavy. Many students are affected by this
disease, particularly acute respiratory infections (ISPA). With these considerations, the
government Siak, Riau adopt policies dismiss temporary teaching and learning activities. (

These symptoms are usually mild and will subside when you stay indoor and limit
your exposure to haze. Irritated eyes, watering eyes, and conjunctivitis (a type of eye
inflammation). Running nose, stuffy nose, sneezing, and/or post-nasal drip; Throat irritation,
dry throat, sore throat and/or coughing; Headache, dizziness and/or fatigue Decreased lung
function, depressed respiratory immune defenses, chest pain, and/or bronchitis (lung
inflammation);Diarrhea or stomach upset, if drinking water sources are contaminated by thick
haze and the water is consumed without further treatment; Anxiety, stress and/or depression-
like symptoms such as insomnia, feelings of helplessness, loss of interest in daily activities
and irritability. (Tjandra Yoga Aditama)

The unhealthy range of air quality has cause increasing number of people infected
with upper respiratory tract infections such as eye irritation, sneezing or coughing. Young
children and elderly people are very vulnerable to respiratory problems, this causes of
respiratory problems including asthma has increased significantly .(desi,2015)
Most residents of developing respiratory tract infections, which reached 4.4960
people 3589 followed by skin irritation, eye irritation 2.753, 2064 asthma, and pneumonia
769. Given to reduce the impact of health care and medicine needs. (Andra)

The haze may also cause environmental problems such as water pollution. As the haze
contains dust, smoke particles and biological agents, it will pollute water bodies such as
reservoirs when it rains. Spread of disease: Drinking polluted water can cause cholera or
typhoid infections, along with diarrhea. Toxins within water will also harm aquatic organisms
such as fish. The haze has also has a huge impact on the environment.

In most cases, it is still safe to carry on with outdoor activities. However, you should
drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and individuals with existing chronic heart and lung
conditions should ensure that medications are on hand and readily available. Actualy, the
impact of haze not only on health but The haze has cause negative impacts to the country.
They are social, environmental and economic impacts.
