RE: ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION FEE NOTICE – FINANCIAL YEAR 2018

1. MEMBERS SUBSCRIPTION FEES

Pursuant to S. 10 of the Tanganyika Law Society Act CAP 307. R.E. 2002 and S. 31, 34 - 36, 38 of
the Advocates Act. CAP 341. R.E, 2002, please be advised that the Tanganyika Law Society
Annual Subscription fee for the year 2016 range from TZS 100,000 to TZS 500,000 depending
on the number of member’s years of practice. Additional contributions include optional US$ 50
membership fee for East Africa Law Society (EALS), TZS 40,000 for the Deceased Advocates
Trust Fund (DATF) and TZS 50,000 for the Legal Aid and Advocacy Centre (LAAC) project.

Further, Pursuant to Third Schedule of the Notaries Public and Commissioners for Oath Act, Cap
12 as amended by the Act no. 2 of the 2016, please be advised that Judiciary fees for the year
2018 range from TZS90,000 to 140,000 depending on the number of member’s years of
practice.

ix. Receipts for each payment i.e. TLS Annual Subscription, EALS Annual Subscription, LAAC
Contribution and DATF Contribution will be issued at the TLS office against Original pay- in
slips, swift copies or cheques.
x. For convenience, please submit your bank slips together with your Notary document and filled
declaration form at your chapter office/ chapter convener for easy renewal of your practicing
certificate.
xi. Please note that your documents will only be accepted if you comply with the CLE Regulations.
xii. Those with less than 10 CLE Points should communicate to the TLS Head office via email or
letter, before submitting their deposit slip in their respective chapter, for further directives. We
shall then send your Notary documents to the High Court for renewal. Once done, TLS shall
inform you to collect your Practising Certificate and ID to your respective Chapter Convener /
Chapter Office.
