INDUSTREX HPX-PRO System
The HPX-PRO System is compact laser reader designed specifically for the Non-
Destructive Testing market and capable of reading a latent image formed on a flexible
storage phosphor imaging plate and producing a digital image. HPX-PRO is not a medical
device and as such does not fall under the regulatory control for such devices. There will
be a feed tray that gives the system the capability of reading GP, HR and XL flex plates
currently available in the NDT product line. The feed tray will support flex screens from
a minimum of 5.08 cm (2.00 in) to a maximum of 15.24 cm (6.00 in) in width and from a
minimum of 13.97 cm (5.50 in) up to a maximum of 243.00 cm (8.00 ft) in length. The
system can be used for the following functions:
• Welding inspection—Gamma and X-ray
• Corrosion inspection
• Stress inspection
• Other non-medical radiographic applications

The system includes:

• Use of flexible HR, GP, and XL Blue CR screens
• Feed trays for flexible screens
• Removable carry handle
• Rechargeable 24V NiMh rail type battery
• Pixel resolutions of 100um, 50um, and 25um
• 24V universal brick power supply
• Dust cover
• Bench top hold down mechanism—accessory
• Status and battery charge indicators

The HPX-PRO reader weighs 35lbs. A carry handle and shoulder strap allow for a single
person lift and operation. The HPX-PRO has an optional rugged transport case for
storage or transport.

Laser Warning
The HPX-PRO reader uses a laser for scanning. Do not look directly at the laser light.

Scatter Radiation
When an exposure occurs, scatter radiation can expose plates stored in the work area.
Scatter Radiation can affect the HPX-PRO while in operation.

Variables that Cause Artifacts:

• Radiation Source
• Distance from the reader to the exposed object
• Exposure levels

Examples of How Artifacts Occur

Depending on the location of the HPX--PRO in the room, cassettes can be exposed to
primary or scatter
• Primary X-rays expose the reader directly from the X-ray generator. Depending on
the type of Collimator some levels of primary radiation can travel as much as 90° away
from the direction of the target.
• Scatter X-rays expose the reader indirectly when the reader is placed behind the
Collimator.
• The primary X-ray distribution depends on the collimator type.

Caution

• CR plates should not be stored or kept near radiation sources.

Power Requirements
100–240 Volts ac (± 10%), 2.2A 50/60 Hz

Caution

• All electrical services, including earth ground, must comply with local and national electrical
codes.
• Never use extension cords.
• Never cut or remove the ground prong from the power cord.
• Failure to comply with these requirements could void the customer’s warranty.
