Assessment

Task Procedures:
1. Teacher enters the classroom wearing a baju melayu.
2. Teacher calls all the pupils to the front of the class.
i. “Children, come here.” (point near you)
Classroom management : Teacher says, “Boys and girls”, Boys and girls”
Pupils reply, “ Yes, teacher, Yes, teacher”
Teacher and pupils say together, “Shhh.. Shhh”
( silent sign to get pupils to gather around you silently)
3. Conduct a shared listening and speaking session as follows.(refer to10.1.1)
a. Teacher shows the powerpoint slides one by one. (keywords)
“Children, look at the screen and listen” ((point to the screen)

b. Teacher emphasises on the key words with the pupils.


“Children, repeat after me” ( point to the word while pronouncing)

c. Then, teacher recites the poem with expressions using the correct stress and
intonation.
d. Repeat these steps for all the slides. Ask any questions that are relevant to
the poem and revised the keywords for all the slides.
e. Teacher distributes a poem to each of the pupils. (refer to10.1.1)
“Now children, listen to the poem and fill in the blanks.” .(refer to10.1.2)
f. Teacher discusses the answer.
“Children, exchange your poem with your friend next to you.”
“Children, what is the first answer? Next….(until the 10th word)
4. Show common picture of common festival in Malaysia i.e Hari Raya .(refer
to10.1.3)
i) “Do you know this festival?”
ii) “Who celebrate Hari Raya?”
iii) “Anyone in this classroom celebrates Hari Raya?”
iv) “How do you wish your friend on Hari Raya?”
5. Ask what other festival do we celebrate?
Show picture festival mentioned by pupils.
Managing errors and mistakes:

a. If pupils read the text incorrectly/ poor pronunciation, “chupp” them. Get better
pupils to help them.
b. If pupils response in the first language, acknowledge their answer by saying “
good job” and say out the word/ sentence in English. Encourage pupils to
repeat a few times.

Reward and Feedback


a. Praise pupils when they answer your questions correctly. i.e. “ Well done”
(with two
thumbs up)
b. Get pupils to clap, once they have finished reading the text or playing the
memory cards game.
