More about Adhikoshna

Adhikoshna is an interactive simulation oriented towards banking in a competitive economy. Teams of
bankers will compete for retail deposits and for retail and institutional lending. You’ll have access to
financial markets to manage your liquidity, risks and to make treasury income. You’ll have to do business
with other entities in the economy – the corporates which borrow and other financial institutions. The type
and nature of these entities will be disclosed just a few hours before the event. You will have to set
interest rates for loans and deposits at your bank and then compete with other banks and financial
institutions for deposits, funds, risk sharing and investment opportunities. You can also design products for
your customers, subject to game rules which will be disclosed in the later stages of your participation.
If you would like to be an individual in this simulated economy, you can join the simulation as a Retail
investor. Access to equity and bond markets will allow you to make investments. You can make deposits

with the banks and borrow from the same to leverage your investments. You can invest in the bank’s
products and make income.
For both bankers and depositors, the task is to make a competitive strategy with the objective of
maximizing profit. The simulation is physical and all game activities will take place in a large venue and
will also involve currency notes. The simulation is interactive – the actions of each participant will affect
the position of the other participants during the game. Besides competitor actions, banks will have to
abide by central bank regulations which are likely to change several times during the game. The game
will consist of several slots, each of nearly 2-3 hour duration, in which regulations might change. During
the slot, financial market operations, transactions with other parties and deals with financial institutions
can be made by players. Information pertaining to banks, money market operations and other disclosures
will be displayed in the gaming hall, which will enable all players to assess performance and risks of
counterparties and competitors. Detailed game play sequence and rules will be sent to selected
participants. While there are rules and regulations, there are no restrictions on the ingenuity of the
players to spot and exploit profitable opportunities in the course of the game.
