TEAM NORMS
● Code of Conduct
○ Communication should be professional during school work time.
○ Stay on task for the duration of the project.
○ Complete the assigned task for the day, according to the Gantt chart, as well as you can.
○ Scale and units must always be in feet
○ Keep on track with the Gantt chart whenever possible.
● Communication
○ Frequency: Response within 12 hours (unless reasonable excuse is provided)
○ Method: Email chain, Group chat
● File Management
○ Naming system: Name it based on hole # (ex: Hole7.part) in a way that clearly describes
it from the other components
○ Revision: If a revision is made then notify teammates immediately, and input digital
notebook entries under Step 4. All versions of a file must be included with the name (ex:
Hole7.part_v1)
○ File Sharing: upload the file and all components as an email to the project email chain
and to the shared folder in Google Drive. “All components” signifies not just the
assembly (the assembly is a group of parts, without them there is nothing in the
assembly). .stp files must also be used when required.
● Team Decisions
○ Process for making decision: Discussion with other team members; implementation will
proceed if majority of team members agree to implement.
○ Process for dealing with differences of opinion/conflict: In the event of a ⅗ vote or a
radical opinion, compromises will be made as needed.
Problem Statement : The Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN has designated an area of mall space to
construct an indoor mini-golf course. Mall of America executives have placed a call for design concepts
from the leading design firms across the United States. Your design team will be one of several teams
who will pitch a design concept to MOA execs. The winning concept will receive the contract to design
and build a state of the art mini-golf course in the MOA.
Design Statement: Competing design teams will submit 9-hole mini-golf course design concept
illustrating the team’s overall idea for a mini-golf theme that will attract mall patrons.
Constraints:
1. All holes within a group must have a consistent theme.
2. Entire mini golf course cannot exceed 12,000 square feet.
3. Holes can have elevated features up to 5’, but appropriate safety precautions must be taken.
4. All components of the hole must be less than 5’ tall.
5. Pathways as needed to move from hole to hole must be a minimum of 36” wide.
6. Each hole assembly must use a base, tee-off pad (provided by the Project Manager), and scoring
podium (provided by the Project Manager).
7. Each hole assembly will include a walking path part file that provides access to the previous and
next holes, also all other part files needed for the design of the whole.
Remember when transferring files, it is ESSENTIAL you know what version of Inventor is being used AND
ALL PARTS MUST BE WITH THE ASSEMBLY.
8. All 3D modeling should be done to FULL SCALE. Be mindful of scale and units!
Base Standards:
● Length: 120 ft
● Width: 100 ft
● Base: 12’’ thick
● Centerpiece: 24’’ high (Don’t worry about it I’ll take care of that - Antoine)
● Sidewalks: 36’’ wide
○ Centered on the line between two squares on the drawing (18’’ on either side of the
line)
● Sidewalks do NOT go on the green, but from hole to hole
● Practice green directly on the floor
● Slanted path to get to the first hole (wheelchair accessible)
● The border around all holes must be 16” wide and 4” tall.
Hole Standards:
● Design holes as puzzle pieces (with right angles, easy to assemble) - look at the examples
● Holes start 4’’ below the top of the base (12’’ - 4’’ = 8’’ off the ground)
● The difficulty should be increasing throughout the holes (one being the easiest and 9 the
hardest).
○ Should take about 30-45 min to complete all holes
● Some holes have the start and end close to one another - use all the space available
● Design Engineers are responsible for including the theme in their holes
Borders Standards:
● Should be 16” wide inside of golf course 6” above hole.
● Material is Squares - Gray-Brown (Autodesk Material Library)
● Pathways should be 1” below the borders and with material With Stone 2 (Autodesk
Appearance Library)
Green Standards:
● Material is Dark Green (Inventor Material Library)
Step 2: Generate Concepts
● Preliminary sketches from all team members (Be sure to include annotation or descriptions as
necessary to be able to fully communicate your ideas)
FINAL THEME:
Time Travel (with some water)

● Identify team roles and divide all work for the project up amongst teammates
● Use a decision matrix to determine which teammates design will be used.
● Create sketches as needed to document all ideas.
● Establish a Entry/Exit Diagram of entire course layout.
