Kane Williamson slams third fifty

on the trot, scores 500 runs in IPL

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson hit his third consecutive fifty in IPL 2018 and
also became the third batsman to score 500 runs in this year’s tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Kane Williamson on Sunday scored

his third half-century on the trot and became the third player in this Indian
Premier League (IPL) 2018 season to have completed 500 runs.

Williamson brought up his 500 runs in IPL 11 with a single off Chennai
Super Kings (CSK) spinner Harbhajan Singh, in the seventh over of their
match at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Sunday afternoon. Earlier during
the toss, it was CSK captain MS Dhoni who won early advantage as he
invited SRH to bat first.

The SRH captain went on to notch up yet another half-century, off 37 balls
with the help of five boundaries and two sixes.

Williamson, who was appointed the captain of the 2016 IPL winners
Sunrisers Hyderabad in place of David Warner, has presented a fine
leadership example both as the batting mainstay of the side as well as a
skipper who makes smart moves on the field.
The right-handed Kiwi batsman is the third in this season to have
completed 500 runs after Delhi Daredevils’ (DD) Rishabh Pant and Kings
XI Punjab’s (KXIP) KL Rahul.

Williamson has so far made the most number of half-centuries (6) in this
IPL, with his highest score being 84 against Chennai Super Kings in their
first league match of IPL 2018 at Hyderabad last month.

The 27-year-old batsman is in a rich form, having scored three half-

centuries in his previous four matches. After being out for a duck against
KXIP, Williamson has notched up scores of 63, 32*, 56 and 83*.

The score of nought against KXIP was in fact a minor blip in an excellent
season for Williamson, as before that he had made three fifties on the trot
(84, 54 and 50).
