Scope 1.1 This standstd covers the complete general and dimensional data for metiie heavy hex structural bolts recognized as "American National Standard, 1.2 Tho inclusion of dimensional data ths stan- dard st not intended to imply that all of the sizes in conjunetion with the vasious options described herein are stack production items Consumers are requested to consult with manufacturers concerning lists of stock production heavy hex structural bots. 1.3 Hewy hex structual bolts purchased for Govern ‘ment use shall conform to this standard, and adaiv Honally to the requirements of Appendix {Il 2, Compatison With ISO Standards 21 Heavy hex structural bolts as presented in this standard have been coordinated, 10 the extent pus sible, with a draft ISO proposed standard. The dimen sional differences between this ANSE standard and the 150 proposal are few, relatively minor, and none will atfect the functional interchangeabilty of bolts manufactured to the requirements of elther. True Position of Head. ‘The axis of the hex head shall be located at true position with respect to the ‘axis of the bolt (determined over a distance under the esd equal to one bolt diameter) within a tolerance ne of diameter equal te 6 percent of the specified ‘maximum width across fats. 9, Beating Surface.
