Skills Integration Activity

Title Red Carpet!


Objective(s) To talk about celebrities.
To express opinions about celebrities.
To listen for specific information about the costume of celebrities.
To read for specific information from a magazine.
To write about the characteristics of two celebrities.

Level/age Intermediate B1/ Young people.


Materials/ICT Pictures of celebrities.
resources Videoclip about red carpet.
A magazine with interesting celebrities.
Flipcharts.
Length 60 minutes.
Procedure

Speaking Present the students with the pictures of the ten Plenary 5”
best celebrities dressed at the Met Gala and elicit
phrases to express their opinions (see Appendix
A)

Listening/ Tell the students that they will watch the video Plenary 10”
Speaking Top 10 Best Met Gala Looks (2018). Ask them to PW
write down one characteristic of the costumes for
each celebrity of the Met Gala (see appendix B).

Have them compare their notes and then elicit


comments from the class. Be ready to emphasize
vocabulary to describe celebrities.
Speaking Present the students with the pictures from the Plenary 10”
Appendix A and ask them to discuss the sequence GW
of the top 10 of the celebrities.

Make groups of four and give them two different


pictures to each group of the 10 pictures and tell
the students to describe the celebrities together
and come to a decision for the best costume of the
two pictures. Monitor and promote discussion
within groups.

Ask a member of each group to present the results


and compare the answers of all groups.
Reading/ Present the students with the reading The Most Plenary 15”
Speaking Over – the- Top Looks From the 2018 Met Gala PW
(see Appendix C).
Ask the students to work in pairs and choose two
celebrities that they most like them in the reading.
Ask them to do a search on the web and find
information about the celebrities selected.
Present the information about the celebrities they
investigated.
Ask them to be very brief.
Writing/ Explain the students that they will have to create a Plenary 20”
Speaking page of a magazine with two most popular GW
celebrities of Quintana Roo. Tell them to do a
search online. They will use flipcharts to create
their magazine page.
Ask them to work in groups of five and volunteer
students will present it.
