3 SUMMARY
The Caliche project is prospective for low sulfidation, epithermal gold-silver deposits
and intrusive-related precious metal and polymetallic deposits. The project hosts
structurally controlled zones of gold-silver mineralization hosted by diorite,
granodiorite, siltstone, and arenite. These mineralized zones form potentially bulk
minable stockworks and planar, mineralized structures or veins. Reconnaissance
mapping and geochemical sampling of the property shows that the system was
capable of creating mineralized zones of economically significant grade and the
exposed areal extent of the system is in excess of 6 km2 . The dominant structural
controls are NA330 to 350 (NW-SE) and NA030 to 260 (NE-SW) high angle
structural zones that are variably brecciated, silicified, and quartz veined. Gold
concentrations are localized within discrete structural zones and within broader
zones of parallel structures, brecciation and/or stockwork quartz veining. The
reconnaissance evaluation of the project by the author validated that the project is
prospective for three target types:
The identified mineral showings at Caliche are consistent with those seen at low
sulfidation epithermal mineralized systems elsewhere in the Sierra Madre and
Altiplano provinces of Mexico. These systems may form economic deposits
mineable by bulk surface or underground methods. Deposits may be in the form of
mineralized structural zones with vertical ranges of 200 to 700m and strike lengths
ranging from hundreds of meters to in excess of 1 kilometer (Albinson et al., 2001),
Work completed to date has identified drill targets meritorious of evaluation, but most
of the 6 km2 area of known gold occurrences has thus far not been mapped or
sampled in detail, thus additional geologic and geochemical surveys are necessary
to prioritize drill targets and identify additional areas of interest. The large size of the
mineralized system mandates that the initial drill program include sufficient meters to
allow for testing of numerous targets distributed throughout the system. In order to
determine the economic potential of the project, a multi-stage exploration program is
recommended, with each successive stage conditional upon results obtained from
the previous. Stage 1 consists of geologic mapping and geochemical surveys to
define initial drill targets. The second stage entails drill testing of targets identified in
Stage 1. The first phase of drilling encompasses 4,000m of reverse circulation
drilling, and if results are positive, would be followed by an additional 8,000m of
reverse circulation drilling to further test the targets developed. The total cost for the
first phase of the proposed program, which encompasses geologic and geochemical
surveys sufficient to identify drill targets, is estimated at $269,000 USD. The drilling
phase costs are estimated at $468,000 USD for the first 4,000m, and an additional
$870,000 USD for the contingent 8,000m, for a total program cost of $1.6M USD.
4.1 Introduction
Corex Gold Corporation commissioned RGM to review the Caliche gold project and
to prepare a report following NI43-101 guidelines for submission as a Technical
Report. Corex trades on the TSX Venture exchange under the symbol CGE.
Matthew Gray, senior partner of RGM, an independent geosciences consulting firm
contracted by Corex, visited the project, reviewed the available geologic and
geochemical data, and took independent samples to accomplish the requested task.
In the preparation of this report the author has relied on his own observations and
independent assay data, supplemented by information obtained through review of
both published and unpublished documents and maps. In addition to the author’s
own observations and assay data, sources of information regarding location and
dimensions of mineralized showings, mines, veins, and the mineralized grades,
include:
- Geologic data generated by RGM Senior Partner Fernando Oviedo and RGM
staff geologists Isidro Flores, Ivan Romero, Hugo Vargas, Jesus Medina, and
Manuel Amador.
Data that was not generated by the author or RGM has not been independently
verified, except as noted in Item 16 of this report. Where information from unverified
sources is relevant to interpretations and discussions of the economic potential of
the project, the source of information is explicitly mentioned. The author and RGM
do not accept responsibility for the interpretations and representations made in this
report where they were the result of erroneous, false, or misrepresented data.
The Qualified Person responsible for this report, Matthew D. Gray, Ph.D., C.P.G.,
President of Resource Geosciences de Mexico SA de CV, conducted a 3 day field
visit to the Caliche project during the period 16 to 18 July 2007. The purpose was to
examine the property geology, the most important known mineral occurrences and
mine workings, and to collect independent geochemical samples of altered and
mineralized areas. Two full days were spent on site visiting known mineralized
areas in the project area. The author spent several days in RGM’s Hermosillo,
Sonora office reviewing geologic and assay data provided by Corex and obtained
from public domain sources.
Prior to the field visit and data review conducted for the purposes of this Technical
Report, the author had been directly involved in mineral exploration programs in the
region, including visits to the Caliche project, but the author had not conducted
detailed examinations of the Caliche project.
Appropriate scientific methods and best professional judgment were utilized in the
collection and interpretation of data discussed in this report. However, users of this
report are cautioned that the evaluation methods used herein are subject to inherent
uncertainties and assumptions, over which Matthew D. Gray and RGM have no
control. These uncertainties and assumptions are stated herein. Users of this report
are hereby advised to be aware of and understand these uncertainties and
assumptions.
For the purposes of this report, Matthew D. Gray and RGM have relied on assay
data provided by ALS Chemex Laboratories and topographic and geographic data
provided by the Consejo de Recursos Minerales, the Servicio Geologico Mexicano,
and the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica Geografia y Informatica. Matthew D. Gray
and RGM have not independently verified the information obtained from these
sources, however Matthew D. Gray is not aware of any information that would lead
him to believe or lead him to suspect that the information from these sources is not
accurate or is unreliable.
The center of the project area is located at UTM Zone 12, 536,740E 3,365,100N,
Datum ITRF92 GRS80 (equivalent to WGS84 G730 within a few centimeters), or
North Latitude 30o 24’ 55” West Longitude 110o 37’ 07”, North American Datum 27
Mexico. All UTM coordinates refered to in this report are UTM WGS84 G370 unless
otherwise noted.
Mining and exploration rights in Mexico are controlled by the Federal Government,
and are assigned to third parties by the granting of mining concessions. Claims at
the Caliche project were originally titled under a previous regulatory regime which
recognized two classes of concessions, exploration and exploitation, however
reforms to the mining law enacted in 2006 automatically converted all existing
exploration and exploitation concessions into mining concessions which are
administered by the Direccion General de Minas (DGM), a subsecretariat of the
cabinet level Secretaria de Economia. Mining concessions are valid for a 50 year
period, at the end of which they may be renewed. To maintain concessions in good
legal standing, concession holders are obligated to pay semi-annual tax payments
and to annually file documentation of exploration or development work at the
concession.

Surface rights in the project are controlled by the Rancho Cerro Prieto, a family
owned ranch represented by Sr. Fernando Padres Gauna. Exploration work
conducted to date has been exclusively on this privately held land for which Corex
has received permission to enter and explore in consideration for annual payments
of $8,000 USD. The agreement is valid for 5 years and was executed on 30 March
2007. RGM has not independently verified surface ownership.
6.4 Mineralization
Numerous abandoned small mines, exploration workings, and alteration zones are
present within the property area. Most are developed on high angle mineralized
structural zones or veins, and the metals produced or sought include gold and silver.
Lead, zinc, and copper are present in minor amounts but are not of economic
significance. These mineralized occurrences are described in Item 11 of this report.
6.6 Permits
Exploration and mining activities in Mexico are subject to control by the Secretaria
del Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (Secretary of the Environment and
Natural Resources), known by its acronym SEMARNAT. The Caliche project is not
included within any specially protected, Federally designated ecological zones,
therefore basic exploration activities are regulated under Norma Oficial Mexicana
NOM-120-ECOL-1997. NOM120 allows for activities including mapping,
geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys, mechanized trenching, road building,
and drilling. If each particular activity does not exceed a defined threshold for
surface disturbance, which varies by activity, and if in aggregate these activities will
affect less than 25% of the project surface area, the project operator is required only
to inform SEMARNAT in writing of the proposed exploration activities. If after 5 days
SEMARNAT has not formally objected, work may proceed immediately. NOM120
defines the impact mitigation procedures that must be followed for each activity. All
exploration work conducted to date has been under the auspices of NOM 120.
Road access to the Caliche project is via paved Federal Highway 15 from Hermosillo
to the town of Magdalena, a distance of 185 km, thence southeast via the paved
Magdalena – Cucurpe two lane highway a distance of 40km, thence turning
northeast onto an unsurfaced all weather road continuing 14km to a locked gate,
thence continuing 4.8 km into the center of the project area. Straight line distance
from Magdalena to the project area is 40km. (Figure 6.1). Driving time from
Magdalena is 1.5 hours. Driving time from Hermosillo is 3.5 hours.
Basic services and provisions including phone, lodging, meals, gasoline, etc. may be
obtained in Magdalena. The border towns of Nogales, Sonora and Nogales, Arizona
are within a three hour drive of the project.
Vertical relief in the project area is approximately 710m, from a maximum elevation
of 1720m at Cerro El Caliche to a minimum elevation of 1080m in the arroyos
draining the southernmost portion of the project area. A radial dendritic drainage
pattern with moderate hill slopes is centered about Cerro El Caliche. Vegetation is
dominated by short grasses and mesquite, ocotillo, and saguaro cactus.
Exploration and mining work can be conducted in all seasons, although the periods
June to September and December to January are often marked by abundant rains.
During periods of significant rainfall, unimproved roads may become temporarily
impassable. Summertime high temperatures may exceed 40o C. During the
wintertime snow accumulations are possible. Climates in the project area are
classified as hot, semi-arid and temperate, semi-arid (CRM, 1992).
8 HISTORY
The Caliche prospect lies within the Cucurpe mining region. Earliest recorded
mining activity in the region dates to the 1800’s and is evidenced by numerous small
scale artisanal mines and surface cuts, principally along structurally controlled
mineralized zones and veins. Discovery and development of the Santa Gertrudis
gold deposits by Phelps Dodge in 1986 spurred exploration activity in the region.
The Santa Gertrudis deposits exhibited some characteristics typical of “Carlin type”
gold deposits, and the consequently the region was explored for similar sedimentary
rock-hosted gold deposits.
Since Cambior’s exit from the project, no other exploration activities are known to
have occurred at the project.
9 GEOLOGICAL SETTING
The Caliche project lies on the western flank of the Sierra Madre Occidental (SMO)
province, within the Valley and Ranges subprovince. The SMO province comprises
a regionally extensive Eocene to Miocene volcanic field which extends southeast
from the United States-Mexico border to central Mexico. The Valley and Ranges
subprovince which hosts the Caliche project is characterized by extensional normal
faulting that has created an alternating sequence of horsts and grabens, equivalent
to Basin and Range type extensional features of the Western United States.
Mountain ranges and valleys trend N-S and NW-SE. Maps published by the
Servicio Geologico Mexicano (SGM, translated as Mexican Geological Survey)
indicate that the Caliche project area is underlain by a Jurassic to Cretaceous aged
volcanosedimentary sequence which has been intruded by granodioritic and dioritic
intrusions of presumed Tertiary age (Figure 9.1). Rhyolitic volcanic rocks that
correlate with the Upper Series of the SMO overlie the Jurassic volcanosedimentary
sequence (SGM, 1999). The Jurassic units are deformed, and the SGM correlates
this deformation with mid-Cretaceous compression and development of thrust faults.
Detailed geologic mapping is currently in progress and has been completed thus far
only for the central area of the project. Not all contact relationships have been fully
discerned, but work done to date has identified as many as seven different intrusive
lithologies and two apparently distinct sedimentary sequences. The southern portion
of the project area is underlain by dioritic and granodioritic, medium grained
equigranular intrusive rocks. The central portion of the project area is underlain by
clastic strata comprising siltstones, arkoses, greywackes, and less commonly,
quartzites (Figure 9.2). Spherulitic rhyolitic sills intrude the clastic strata. Both
intrusive and structural contacts were observed between the sedimentary strata and
the dioritic and granodioritic intrusive rocks. Intrusive rocks present include:
• Fine grained, dark grey-green colored andesitic intrusive with occasional fine
to medium grained plagioclase laths in a fine grained to aphanitic matrix.
At the extreme western edge of the concession package roadcuts expose deformed
shaly siltstones that appear similar to Cretaceous strata exposed elsewhere in the
region. These strata are distinct from the immature clastic sediments exposed in the
center of the project area. They reflect a different provenance, apparently lacking
detrital input from adjacent volcanic or igneous terranes, and a deeper marine
depositional environment. Low angle structures, interpreted as thrust faults, are
exposed in these strata (Figure 9.4). Similar strata are exposed at lower elevations
in the Los Japoneses area, and include calcareous beds. Silicified and deformed
thinly bedded sedimentary strata are exposed in the arroyo between Los Japoneses
and Los Cuervos (Figure 9.5) and may represent tectonic deformation associated
with regional thrusting.
Figure 9.5. Silicified thinly bedded sedimentary strata with chevron folding, Los Japoneses
area.
10 DEPOSIT TYPES
The mineral deposits present in the project area, and the deposit type being sought,
are epithermal, low sulfidation gold-silver deposits. Such deposits may be present
as veins and/or disseminated deposits and hosted by intrusive, volcanic, and
sedimentary rocks. Features common to such deposits (Buchanan, 1981; Hayba et
al., 1985; Heald et al., 1987; Bonham, 1988; Berger and Henley, 1989; Albinson et
al., 2001) include:
The majority of gold production from Cucurpe region has come from this type of
deposit. The most significant historically exploited deposits and deposits currently
being evaluated are listed below and include:
- Santa Gertrudis open pit gold mine, located 27km N-NW of Caliche, operated
first by Phelps Dodge, and later by Campbell Resources, with total gold
production of 432,000 ounces from approximately 564,838 ounces of gold mined
(Kern and Sibthorpe, 2005).
- Mercedes Gold Project, underground vein target, located 14km E-SE of Caliche,
currently being drill tested by Meridian Gold, who has reported discovery of an
ore shoot with average drill intercepts of 5.42m true width @ 11.4 gpt Au and
153 gpt Ag (Meridian Gold, 2007).
The mineralization described for the mines and exploration projects discussed in this
section is not necessarily indicative of the mineralization at the Caliche, Sonora
property. The author has not reviewed the data upon which the production and
drillhole intercept data in this section are based. The author cannot comment on the
accuracy of these data. The estimates were obtained from sources believed to be
reliable but cannot be verified.
11 MINERALIZATION
11.1 General
Numerous epithermal veins and mineralized structural zones are exposed in the
project area. Most strike NA330 to NA350 with steep dips to the northeast.
Northeast-striking veins of lesser width and length were observed to crosscut the
northwest-striking veins. Host rocks include siltstones, fine to medium grained
arkoses, greywackes, quartzites, dioritic and granodioritic intrusive rocks, and
rhyolitic volcanic sills. Some mineralized zones locally follow lithological contacts.
The historically mined mineralized zones are structurally controlled and they
crosscut all rock types. Mineralized structures are characterized by pervasive
silicification, replacement and open-space filling silica veining, and brecciation. The
most intensely quartz veined and brecciated zones are typically no more than 3
meters wide, but less intense quartz veining and brecciation, and/or parallel
structures, occur over widths of several meters in the hangingwalls and footwalls of
the main structures. Veins and mineralized structural zones can be continuously
traced for as much as 1,200 meters along strike and are exposed over vertical
ranges of as much as 220 meters. The more intensely exploited zones have been
nearly continuously mined or prospected over as much as 800m of strike extent.
Vein textures indicate multiple stages of veining, and silica replacement of calcite.
The multi-stage veins are comprised of aplitic white silica, aphanitic dense silica, and
open space filling drusy quartz. Silicified healed breccias are present in the same
structural zones that host the banded veins and consist of angular white silica
fragments in grey aphanitic silica matrix. The veins exposed at surface are oxidized
and Fe-oxide stained. They originally contained no more than a few percent sulfides
and sulfosalts. Primary vein minerals identified in unoxidized vein material collected
from mine stockpiles include pyrite, and occasionally tetrahedrite and galena. Host
rocks are typically sericitized and were originally pyritic, as evidenced by
disseminated iron oxides pseudomorphous after pyrite.
The gold occurrences at Caliche are associated with elevated silver contents, and
occasionally, with elevated lead and zinc concentrations. Analysis of 374 rock chip
samples that contained greater than 50 ppb gold does not yield significant positive
correlations between gold and any metal other than silver (Table 11.1). A strong
positive statistical correlation between Cu and Sb, with a correlation coefficient of
0.99, indicates that tetrahedrite ((Cu,Fe)12Sb4S13) is probably the only cupriferous
mineral present. Positive correlations are noted between Pb, Zn, and Mo,
suggesting a coeval deposition of these metals, and Mo and As positively correlate.
Table 11.1 Correlation Coefficients, 374 rock chip samples containing >50 pbb Au.
At the exposures sampled, gold and silver are the only metals present in
economically significant amounts, although significant Pb and Zn contents are
sometimes observed. The average metal contents of 374 rock chip samples that
contained at least 50 ppb Au are 1.11 gpt Au, 22 gpt Ag, and less than 0.2% each of
Pb and Zn (Table 11.2). Assay results for major metals for all 457 rock chip samples
are included as Appendix A.
Table 11.2. Summary statistics, 374 rock chip samples containing >50 ppb Au.
The known mineral occurrences occur within an 6km2 zone that hosts hundreds of
mineralized structures and veins and is associated with large scale but irregular
zones of hydrothermal alteration including hematization, pyritization (now evidenced
by Fe-oxides), weak silicification, sericitization, and chloritization. Detailed mapping
is required to determine the relationships between the differing alteration
assemblages.
In respect to geologic setting, structural style, and ore and gangue mineralogy, the
mineral occurrences visited by the author at the Caliche project are similar to many
epithermal, low sulfidation gold-silver-polymetallic deposits, as discussed in Item 10
of this report.
The Caliche property hosts hundreds of surface cuts, prospect pits, and small scale
underground mines developed on steeply- to moderately-dipping, structurally
controlled mineralized zones and quartz veins (Figure 11.1). Corex has thus far
conducted only reconnaissance sampling of the most prominent and accessible
mineralized zones. For purposes of this review, eight areas of historic mining
activity were visited in order to characterize the style and setting of gold
mineralization at the Caliche project. Areas visited by M Gray are briefly described
in this section.
Figure 11.1. Principal veins and historic mine workings, Caliche Project.
The Los Japoneses area includes the Los Japoneses and Los Cuervos mine
workings, with the latter being the southern extension of the former. The
underground mine workings at Los Japoneses exploited the vein over at least an 80
meter vertical interval and the historic workings and prospects expose the vein for a
strike length of 550 meters. Stoped widths are as much as 3 meters. The vein is
hosted by siltstone, arkose, massive granodiorite, and a granodioritic sill. The vein
strikes NA320 to 340 and dips 65 to 80 degrees northeast (Figure 11.2). Wallrocks
are sericitized and are cut by variable amounts of quartz veinlets. The wallrock is
now oxidized, but originally contained several percent disseminated fine grained
pyrite. Parallel mineralized structures are present in the footwall of the Japoneses
structure and yielded as much as 12 gpt Au over widths of 1m (Figure 11.3). The
southernmost extent of the structure, by local usage termed the Los Cuervos vein, is
hosted by sericitized and pyritic granodiorite, which may be significantly auriferous
even when significant veining is absent. Outcrops of pervasively sericitized and
pyritic granodiorite with patchy pervasive silicification and less than 2% quartz vein
stockwork assayed as much as 1.3 gpt Au at Los Cuervos (Figure 11.4) indicating
potential for disseminated or stockwork style mineralization.

sill.
Figure 11.4. Sericitized granodiorite with traces of silica veining and disseminated oxidized
pyrite, Los Cuervos area. Sample B14192 taken across 1m yielded 0.5 gpt Au. Sample
C302406 collected by M Gray across same zone yielded 1.3 gpt Au.
The Cabeza Blanca showing comprises a 700m long, NA350 striking, 70 degree
northeast dipping mineralized structural zone that has been stoped over widths of as
much 5 meters. The vein is exposed over a vertical range of 120 meters. Wallrock
to the stoped zones is quartz veined and sericitized fine grained arenite (Figure
11.5). Vein textures indicate multiple stages of quartz deposition and casts after
bladed calcite are preserved within the vein (Figure 11.6). The structure has been
continuously mined at surface over hundreds of meters (Figure 11.7).
Reconnaissance sampling of the vein yielded as much as 5.9 gpt Au over a 1m
width.

vein.
The Buena Suerte prospect comprises a 150m long mineralized structural zone
hosted by arkosic arenites and a granodioritic sill. The structure strikes NA340 and
dips 85 degrees to the northeast. Shallow workings expose a 1m wide zone of drusy
quartz veining along the structure, but of greater interest are zones of minor quartz
vein stockworks peripheral to the Buena Suerte structure. Reconnaissance
sampling of these zones yielded up to 0.5 gpt Au, suggesting the possibility for
discovery of disseminated or bulk minable mineralized zones. Sample C302404
collected by M Gray from the wallrock to the Buena Suerte structure yielded 3.2 gpt
Au and is a duplicate of sample B14089 that assayed 2.8 gpt Au.
11.2.4 El Colorado
Prospects and workings in the El Colorado area expose multi-stage silicified breccia
veins and banded and drusy quartz veined structural zones. The mineralized
structures are hosted by sericitized and chloritized granodiorite, and the most
prominent structures strike NA 335 and dip 55 to 65 degrees to the northeast. These
structures crop put over strike lengths in excess of 100 meters. They are crosscut
by northeast striking quartz veins (Figure 11.8). Reconnaissance sampling of the
main northwest striking structure yielded as much as 2.4 gpt Au over a 2m width. A
representative grab sample, C302402, collected by M Gray over a 1.5 m wide zone
of intensely silicified and brecciated granodiorite yielded 1.4 gpt Au.
Figure 11.8. El Colorado prospect. Geologist Isidro Flores has hammer on northeast striking
vertical quartz vein that crosscuts northwest striking, northeast dipping quartz vein (seen
from upper left corner of photo, trending down to feet of Flores). Host rock is sericitized
granodiorite.
The Las Abejas – Veta de Oro area encompasses numerous northwest striking,
northeast dipping veins and mineralized structural zones, hosted by siltstones and
fine grained arenites. The Veta de Oro - Las Abejas structure extends over a strike
length of 750 meters and has been mined over widths of as much as 2 meters.
Reconnaissance sampling of the structure has yielded as much as 3.0 gpt Au over a
0.8 meter width. The country rock in the Las Abejas area is a weakly pyritic (now
oxidized) siltstone that is crosscut by less than 2% quartz veinlets. Reconnaissance
sampling of these outcrops has yielded as much as 1.0 gpt Au, suggesting the
possibility for discovery of significant gold mineralization that is not restricted to the
major structures (Figure 11.9).
Figure 11.9. Stockwork at Veta de Oro – Las Abejas area. Fine grained hematitic arenite with
traces of disseminated fine grained Fe-oxide after pyrite and <2% silica stockwork
microveinlets. Sample site B14413, 1.0 gpt Au over 1.4 meters.
11.2.6 El Zorillo
The El Zorillo area host numerous northwest striking, steeply northeast- and
southwest-dipping mineralized structural zones and quartz veins hosted by dioritic
and granodioritic intrusions. In contrast to other vein zones at the Caliche prospect,
at El Zorillo white vitreous massive quartz veins (“bull quartz veins”) are commonly
present. Stoping on these veins indicate that they are locally mineralized, and
reconnaissance sampling of them has yielded as much 1.2 gpt Au over 1.2 m
widths. Structurally controlled zones of dense silicification with abundant iron oxides
and amethyst veins were also observed, and the former have yielded as much as
5.8 gpt over sample widths of 4 meters (Figure 11.10). Alteration associated with
mineralization at El Zorillo includes pervasive chloritization and pervasive
sericitization.
Figure 11.10. El Zorillo roadcut. Geologist Isidro Flores has hammer on northwest striking
silicified zone that contains abundant earthy gossanous dark oxides. Host rock is
granodiorite. Sample B14160 collected over 4m at this site yielded 5.8 gpt Au. Sample
C302401 collected by M Gray over a 4m width yielded 5.2 gpt Au.
The La Española structure strikes NA350 and dips 65 degrees to the northeast. It is
traceable on surface for 600 meters of strike length and the Magdalena vein is
interpreted to be the northwest strike continuation of it, yielding a total strike length
of at least 1,300 meters Figure (11.1). It is up to 2m wide, and in contrast to other
veins seen at Caliche, no evidence of explosive brecciation was seen at La
Española. The vein is composed of rhythmically banded white and grey sugary and
drusy quartz (Figures 11.11 and 11.12) hosted by fine grained arenite and a
granodioritic sill. Surface samples collected across the vein yielded up to 2m @
8.0 gpt Au and 92 gpt Ag.
Figure 11.12. La Española vein. Vein passes in front of geologist I Flores. View looking
NA350 down strike of vein. Cerro El Caliche in background.
This area hosts northwest- and northeast-striking quartz veins and mineralized
structural zones hosted by granodiorite intrusive and fine grained arenites.
Individual structures can be traced as far as 950 meters and stoped vein widths are
as much as 2m. Reconnaissance sampling of the structures yielded as much as 2m
@ 6.1 gpt Au. and 1m @ 13.1 gpt Au. The host rock granodiorite is pervasively
sericitized and contains a few percent disseminated Fe-oxide pseudomorphous after
pyrite. Patchy pervasive silicification was also observed. The area is of interest
because of the relatively high density of mineralized structures of diverse
orientations and the pervasive sericite-pyrite+silica alteration assemblage,
suggesting the possibility of relatively broad zones of stockwork mineralization.
12 EXPLORATION
Corex commenced reconnaissance exploration of the region in late 2006, and after
Memorandums of Understanding were executed with concession owners, project
evaluation began in February 2007 and continues to present. Exploration work
completed by Corex up to the date of this report includes 1:5,000 scale geologic
mapping, reconnaissance rock chip geochemical sampling, and roadcut sampling as
summarized in Table 12.1.
Geologic mapping at scale 1:5,000 has been completed only for the south central
portion of the project area, as discussed in Item 9 of this report and illustrated in
Figure 9.2. Reconnaissance rock chip sampling has been conducted of the central
portion of the project area, including areas with the highest concentrations of known
gold occurrences and historic mine workings. Samples were analyzed by an
independent international laboratory, ALS Chemex. Results are presented in
Appendix A. Details of the sampling program are presented in Item 14 of this report.
13 DRILLING
Corex has not conducted exploration drilling at the project. The only known drilling
activity at the project is that conducted by Cambior Exploration in 1997 and 1998 as
discussed in Item 8 of this report. This data is not available to the author.
Concurrent with geologic mapping, project geologists collected surface rock chip
samples of outcropping zones of altered and mineralized rock. During the initial
reconnaissance evaluations of the project, Alan Hitchborn, Vice President
Exploration, Corex Gold Corporation, participated in sampling programs, but the
currently ongoing detailed rock chip sampling program is conducted by geologists in
the employ of Resource Geosciences de Mexico SA de CV. To the date of this
report, 457 rock chip samples have been collected and analyzed. The objective of
the sampling was to characterize the mineral deposit type(s) and to define zones of
gold enrichment within the identified alteration zones. Surface sample locations were
selected to be representative of the geologic feature being investigated.
Representative spot samples and continuous channel samples are collected.
Channel samples are obtained by chipping and collecting rock along a line
perpendicular to the orientation of the structure or feature being sampled. Channel
samples collected are normally 2m in length. All samples were collected by hand,
using hardened steel chisels, picks, and geological hammers. Samples were placed
in 10” x 14” cloth drawstring sample bags. Sample weights varied from 4.5 to 7.5 kg.
Sample spacing was variable, and was a function of exposure of mineralized or
altered rock. Sample numeration was in ascending order, using sample numbers
and sample tags provided by the analytical laboratory. Sample locations were
marked in the field with fluorescent plastic flagging and aluminum tags. Sample
descriptions, location data, and multi-element assay data were captured in digital
format for importation into map generation and interpretation software applications.
No factors were identified that materially impact the accuracy or reliability of the
sample results. Surface rock chip samples were collected manually and recovery
was 100%.
In the opinion of the author, samples collected are of high quality and representative
of the mineralized areas being evaluated.
Figure 14.1. Geologist J Medina conducting channel sampling of road cuts, Cabeza Blanca
area.
Regular sample intervals of 2.0 were used for most channel samples. Samples
collected of veins and mineralized structures varied from 0.4 to 2.0 meters width in
accordance with the width of the features being sampled.
It is the author’s opinion that sample preparation, security, and analytical procedures
used were adequate to insure the integrity and reliability of the sample data base.
15.1 Personnel
Surface rock chip samples were collected by project geologists and technicians
employed by Resource Geosciences de Mexico SA de CV. Alan Hitchborn, Vice
President Exploration of Corex Resource, participated in the earliest phases of
reconnaissance sampling at the project, and conducts on site reviews of the
exploration program, but neither he nor other employees, officers, directors, or
associates of Corex are directly involved in the ongoing detailed surface sampling
program.
Each sample was dried and the entire sample was crushed to better than 70%
passing a 2 mm (Tyler 10 mesh) screen. Using a riffle splitter, a split of up to 250
grams was taken and pulverized to better than 85% passing a 75 micron (Tyler 200
mesh) screen.
Gold content was first analyzed utilizing standard fire assay fusion of a 50 gram
charge, followed by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). For those samples that
yielded assays greater than 10,000 ppb Au (or 10 gpt Au), the sample was assayed
again utilizing standard fire assay fusion, followed by gravimetric analysis. The two
methods and their detection and upper limits are described below.
Metal: Gold
Sample Decomposition: Fire Assay Fusion
Analytical Method: Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)
A prepared sample is fused with a mixture of lead oxide, sodium carbonate, borax,
silica and other reagents as required, inquarted with 6 mg of gold-free silver and
then cupelled to yield a precious metal bead.
The bead is digested for ½ hour in dilute nitric acid. Hydrochloric acid is then added
and the solution is digested for an additional hour. The digested solution is cooled,
diluted to 7.5 ml with demineralized water, homogenized and then analyzed by
atomic absorption spectrometry. The detection limit is 5 ppb (.005 gpt) and the
upper limit is 10,000 ppb (10 gpt).
Metal: Gold
Sample Decomposition: Fire Assay Fusion
Analytical Method: Gravimetric
A prepared sample is fused with a mixture of lead oxide, sodium carbonate, borax,
silica and other reagents in order to produce a lead button. The lead button
containing the precious metals is cupelled to remove the lead. The remaining gold
and silver bead is parted in dilute nitric acid, annealed and weighed as gold. Silver,
if requested, is then determined by the difference in weights. Optionally, blanks with
known silver and gold content can be assayed at the same time to determine the
correction factor for silver loss in the fusion and cupellation. The detection limit is 50
ppb (.05 gpt) and the upper limit is 1,000 gpt.
All other elements listed below were analyzed utilizing Inductively Coupled Plasma -
Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP - AES) methods. The method and the detection
and upper limits for each element are described in Table 15.1 below.
A prepared sample (0.50 grams) is digested with aqua regia for at least one hour in
a hot water bath. After cooling, the resulting solution is diluted to 12.5 ml with
demineralized water, mixed and analyzed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic
emission spectrometry. The analytical results are corrected for inter-element
spectral interferences.

16 DATA VERIFICATION
All rock chip samples have been provided by ALS Chemex, an ISO 9001:2000
certified international provider of analytical services. ALS Chemex analytical
protocol includes industry standard QA/QC practices. Key components of the
QA/QC program are systematic insertion into the sample stream of blank, standard,
and duplicate samples.
Matthew D Gray obtained original assay certificates directly from ALS Chemex and
cross checked the project database against these original certified assay sheets to
verify the integrity of the database. M Gray reviewed original data sheets for blank,
duplicate, and standard samples analysed with the Caliche samples. Results
confirm that the analytical results of the rock chip sampling program are reliable and
suitable for exploration purposes.
As part of the field review, M Gray located sample sites in the field and collected 6
rock chip samples from sites previously sampled. Where the original sample was a
true channel sample, Gray collected a duplicate sample along the same sampling
cut. For the remaining cases the original samples were representative samples of
specific features thus Gray collected a representative sample of the same feature
but not at exactly the same location as the original sample. Gray collected the
verification samples and maintained control of the samples up until their delivery to
the ALS Chemex facility in Hermosillo, Sonora. The check sampling confirmed the
results of earlier sampling, and are summarized in Table 16.1.

certificates, field maps, notes, and reports were not available to the him, thus this
data is not further considered in this report and does not form the basis of any
conclusions or interpretations contained herein.
The Caliche project is prospective for low sulfidation, epithermal gold-silver deposits,
and intrusive-related precious metal and polymetallic deposits. The project hosts
structurally controlled zones of gold-silver mineralization hosted by diorite,
granodiorite, siltstone, and arenite. These mineralized zones form potentially bulk
minable stockworks, and planar, mineralized structures or veins.
Examples of target type 2 include the all of the epithermal veins identified at the
project, including those described in Item 11.2 of this report. Reconnaissance
sampling of these veins has yielded as much as 13.2 gpt Au over widths of 1m, and
8.0 gpt Au over widths of 2 meters. The textures observed at present levels of
exposure are consistent with those of the uppermost levels of epithermal vein
systems, therefore significant depth extensions to the veins may be reasonably
inferred to exist, and targets analogous to the high grade ore shoots being defined at
the nearby Mercedes project, as discussed in Item 10 of this report, should be
considered.
Target type 3 is speculative and no examples of such are seen at surface. Its
possible existence is suggested by the presence of alteration assemblages typical of
intrusive related systems and by the Mo-As geochemical associations. The sericite-
pyrite-silica assemblage and the chlorite assemblage observed at Caliche may be
analogous to the phyllic and propylitic alteration zones associated with many
intrusive related deposits, and the Mo-As geochemical association is consistent with
relatively high temperature hydrothermal events associated with intrusive activity.
Calcareous sedimentary strata are present in the project area thus the project may
also be considered prospective for skarn deposits. These hypothesized targets
would be expected to occur below the presently exposed level of the system, thus
testing of this hypothesis would require drill testing to depths of greater than 150m
below current exposures.
The identified mineral showings at Caliche are consistent with those seen at low
sulfidation epithermal mineralized systems elsewhere in the Sierra Madre and
Altiplano provinces of Mexico. These systems may form economic deposits
mineable by underground or bulk surface methods. Deposits may be in the form of
mineralized structural zones with vertical ranges of 200 to 700m and strike lengths
ranging from hundreds of meters to in excess of 1 kilometer (Albinson et al., 2001),
or as zones of stockwork or disseminated mineralization localized by structures or
lithology. The Caliche project is prospective for both types of deposits. Additional
surface geologic and geochemical studies, followed by drilling, are required to
determine the size and grade of the mineralized zones at the Caliche project.
22 RECOMMENDATIONS
Work completed to date has identified drill targets meritorious of evaluation, but most
of the 6 km2 area of known gold occurrence has thus far not been mapped or
sampled in detail, thus additional geologic and geochemical surveys are necessary
to prioritize drill targets and identify additional areas of interest. The large size of the
mineralized system mandates that the initial drill program include sufficient meters to
allow for testing of numerous targets distributed throughout the system. In order to
The data collection and QA/QC policies implemented by Corex are appropriate for
an early stage exploration program. The protocols employed were satisfactory for
verifying the integrity and quality of the surface rock chip sample and analytical
database for exploration purposes, however, as the project advances to drill testing,
some changes to field practices and QA/QC policies are recommended as
summarized below.
