Document date 08-05-2018
version Version 2

PROJECT CONTEXT- BUSINESS NEED

The scope for robotics is high in the upcoming years due various factors like increase in
labour cost, lack of labour and to reduce the errors. Every industry will show their
interest towards robotics and automation. The robotics field will see an immense growth,
so it will become necessary for the students to have a good knowledge about the robotics
and to have practical experience in this field.

PROJECT TIME LINE

The team has decided to work for 2 months. A weekly schedule will be generated and the
flow of the project will be as per the weekly schedule.

PROBLEM STATEMENT- WHY DO WE WANT THE

PROJECT
PROBLEM STATEMENT PROBLEM APPROACH

Need for robotics knowledge for the Meeting the concerned persons in the
students potential colleges to share about the need
for robotics to the students
To find whether there is potential for the A market study must be done to know
product in the area about the market potential
PROJECT MISSION- PRODUCT SUMMARY
To enhance the student with robotics knowledge, a product has been created by GLOBAL
SPACE TECHNOLOGIES with the help of a partner company “MAKEBLOCK “ which has
about 1500 components to build a prototype robot for the students to enhance their
knowledge in robotics.

PROJECT OBJECTIVIES - SCOPE

1. Find whether there is potential for the product in South India.
2. After taking sample, find the potential colleges which will show interest towards
the product
3. Convert these potential colleges to customers
4. To find whether there is a need for operations unit in Coimbatore to serve the
customers.
OUT OF SCOPE:
The project only finds the potential customers. This does not give a clear idea about the
demand for the product in the area.

PROJECT APPROACH – PROJECT FLOW

1. Implementation approach:
 To know proper potential about the market for the product in south India,
a proper sample must be taken.
 Sample must be taken from the list of colleges in the area. A cluster sample
is taken and then a random probability sampling technique is done in the
cluster to take samples.
 Once the samples are identified then we approach to those samples and
find out whether they have the potential for the product or not. Thus, the
potential for the area cluster is found and reported.
 Samples will be taken from all the cluster at the same time and cold calling
and a questionnaire approach will be done to the samples to know the
potential.
 Once the selected samples have been approached, then the left-over
samples will be taken to find their potential

2. Implementation approach – constraints

 Samples must be selected within a period of 2 weeks.
 Meeting with the all the samples must be scheduled properly with the time
frame.
3. Training and testing approach
 Once the product is implemented in the customers site. A proper training
must be given for the teachers and the assistants and testing of the parts
must be done at regular intervals.
 Layout has to set for the customer to have an easy access to the products
and to utilize the maximum capacity at a particular time during the usage.

4. Communication approach
 A weekly time schedule will be generated and then report for the week
must be submitted.
 A record of all the samples and the interaction between the samples must
be recorded.

PROJECT DESIRED END RESULT

The team will find the potential customers in the area cluster and convert the leads to
customers and increase the sales for the company.
The team will also find whether to setup a complete operational unit in Coimbatore to
support its customers.

WEEK 1 WORK SUMMARY

All the preliminary works like college database, sales pitch, questionnaire have been
completed.
COLLEGE DATABASE:
The list of colleges in Tamil Nadu have been identified and then they are categorized
district wise. An area cluster sample is created, and judgemental sampling is done and
ranked based on the popularity of the colleges, financial soundness, courses offered and
based on their fees structure.
SALES PITCH:
Rough sales pitch has been drafted and few corrections is to be done.
QUESTIONNAIRE:
The datapoints to be covered is discussed and written down, and these data points are
grouped into three categories namely 1) basics information about college 2) questions
related to lab setup 3) questions related to management perceptions, and the questions
are drafted and is yet to be corrected.
