MGA Meeting Minutes May 17, 2018

2018 MGA Founders Cup

• Most attendees were enthusiastic saying The Founders Cup was well run and
that they were pleased with the course conditions.
• Players like that the event had been moved up earlier in the year, it will be
played on May 4th and 5th next year.
• Players enjoyed playing from the Burden Tees.

Remaining 2018 MGA Events

• The Holley, October 6th and 7th, is a two-man net better ball match play
tournament. You and your partner will be assigned to a six-team flight. Each
team will play each of the other 5 teams in the flight. If a flight has a “bye
match” that match will be played against par.
• The Alliance, November 10th Sign up as a two-man team and then be paired
with another two-man team by the Pro Shop. The foursome will then play as a
team over 18 holes in which they will take the 2 best net scores on each hole
using 1 best ball net from each two-man team. Scores that count toward the 2
best net scores must be putted out. There will be two flights.
• MGA Year-End Scramble, December 1st. Scramble format is 3-man teams
competing in a scramble (Captain’s choice) format. Each team must use a
minimum of 4 drives from each player. Players will play from the tees where
their current handicap has been established. If participation allows, we will
have flights from the Spalding tees, Blended tees, and Burden tees.
Tournament winnings will be paid to approximately 40% of the field

Discussion Items:
• As of May 5th, there are 102 paid MGA members.
• There was a discussion of some recommendations from a member, related to
handicaps administration for MGA events. Several ideas were offered and
evaluated. There was no resolution at this time and the matter will be
discussed further prior to the next MGA event in October.
• Began early discussion about recruiting new MGA committee members for
election in December. We need to replace current committee members
McChesney and Nemeth.
