My Five Year Plan:

2018 - Finish my Masters Degree

 I have been working towards this degree for the past two years and look forward to
completing it. With this degree I will have the tools necessary to be an effective teacher
and form a foundation for developing my own teaching style.

Move from Long-Term Sub to a Teacher Position

 I have had the opportunity to work as a long-term government economics teacher at a
college prep high school since October of last year. This has provided me with a great
opportunity to start practicing my teaching skills as well as giving me real world
experience in the classroom, colleagues and administration. Hopefully, it leads to a full
time position.

2018/19 - Develop and Refine my Teaching Style and Skill

 Teaching is a skill that takes time to develop. This will of course last for as long as I am
teaching. However, I would like to really dedicate my first year of teaching to
developing and refining my own style of teaching. This will enable me to be the best
teacher, and most effective teacher, I can be.

2019/20 - Finish BTSA

 BTSA is another part of the credential process that I must do. However, I look forward
to refining my skill under the guidance of a skilled teacher. After this process I will have
a clear credential which will give me the freedom to move around if I choose.

Create a Club
 I would love to create a club where I can go into my, and the students, interests in more
detail. This would help create a sense of community with the students as well as foster
interests that will serve them into their futures.

2020/21 - Coach Golf

 I have played golf for the past few years and have continued to develop my skill and
knowledge of the game. I think that there are many students who have never played the
game or have limited knowledge of it. I would like to help bring this game to them and
foster those skills as well as a sense of sportsmanship that will serve them throughout
their lives.

Attend Content Specific Teaching Conferences

 I have had the opportunity to attend a social science conference this past year and think
that it helped develop my knowledge in skill set in teaching. These are great for hearing
firsthand experiences and expertise from seasoned teachers and other professionals. I
look forward to attending more of them in the future to help me mature as a teacher.

2021/22 - Think About Teaching Abroad

 I have taught abroad in Spain and would seriously consider doing it again. However, I
would like to do it again but as a credentialed teacher through the State Department,
which is usually teaching at schools located at military bases. I enjoy the challenges of
working abroad as well as working and learning about other cultures.
