ANNOTATION GUIDELINES

This is how to properly annotate objects. Please read carefully and understand each of instructions.

Requirements:
✓ The bottom of the annotation box MUST be tight with the bottom of the object. (e.g.
feet meet the street or wheels meet the street)

✓ Ignore objects that are less than 20% visible.

These objects are less than 20% visible (ignore).

✓ Ignore objects that are smaller than 30pixel by 30pixel.

This box is 30px by 30px:

✓ Annotate the entire object to the best of your judgment, even if it is partially
obstructed.
These are the correct annotations of partially obstructed objects.
✓ Don’t annotate objects with white boxes.
These are incorrect tasks for annotating objects with white boxes.

✓ You should also annotate objects at the edge of the picture, the annotation must be
TIGHT and don’t assume where the other part because it is already out of the picture.
These are the correct annotation for object at the edge (must be tight).
✓ If the object is labeled improperly, e.g. traffic light is labeled as pedestrian light then it
is WRONG.

✓ If there are two people, bike, car, etc. right to each other, the annotator is supposed
to draw a box for each one. Use your best judgment as to which object the annotation
is referring to and then judge it.

Tips before hitting the Submit

✓ Annotate object to the best of your judgment, make annotation and then zoom in to
adjust and tighten the box or use Magnifier Tool.

✓ Use keyboard shortcut. / or ? show/hide shortcuts.

✓ Check all the labels you made sometimes we put wrong labels.

✓ Check the annotated box specially objects at the edge; make use of the vertical and
horizontal scroll bars, sometimes the annotation are not tight because we forgot to
