Instructions for Students Seeking Admission through Entrance Test


1. An Entrance Examination for M.A. (History) course will be conducted at the School (Main) building, 5, Cavalry Lane,
Delhi University, Delhi-110007 on 06-June-2010 at 10.00 a.m.
2. Successful candidates in this examination will be eligible for admission at the School of Open Learning.
3. The Entrance Examination will comprise a written examination of 100 marks for which the question paper will be of a
multi-disciplinary nature. The candidates will be expected to answer four out of eight questions in three hours.
4. There will not be any difference in the minimum qualifying marks in the Entrance Examination for the Main/South
Campus and the School of Open Learning.
5. Candidates getting less than 40% marks in the Entrance Examination will not qualify for admission.
6. Foreign Students who are recipients of Government of India scholarship/sponsorship by any agency of Government
of India will be exempted from the entrance Examination.
7. All candidates will have to pay an Entrance Examination fee (non-refundable) Rs.250/- for General Candidates and
Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates at the time of registration. Candidates seeking admission to the School of Open
Learning through the Entrance Examination to be held on 06-June-2010 will have to pay this fee through Cash /
Bank Draft in favour of the Executive Director, School of Open Learning, University of Delhi.
8. For identification an self attested photograph of the candidate along with his/her signature should be affixed on the
registration form and the examination ticket.
9. Registration will be done in Room No. 10 at SOL. Last date for Registration is 04-June-2010.

Procedure for Admission to M.A. Political Science through Entrance Test


1. The candidates fulfilling the above mentioned ‘Category-B’ conditions will have to appear in an Entrance Test to be
conducted at the School premises.
2. To appear in the entrance test the candidates are to register themselves in the School of Open Learning.
3. Registration for the Entrance Test in Political Science will be done up to 30th June, 2010. The Entrance Test will be held
on 07th July, 2010 at 10.00 A.M. in the premises of the School of Open Learning.
4. Candidates will be issued admission tickets for the Entrance Test. They should take the test on the prescribed time and
date. Candidates failing to appear for the admission test on the prescribed time and date for whatever reason will not be
considered for admission.
5. The M.A. Entrance Exam, will require students to choose and attempt two essay type questions. Time duration for this
exam will be one and a half hours and the paper is marked out of a total of 100 marks. The qualifying mark for passing
the M.A. entrance examination is now 50% not 40% out of total numerical marks. Standard University norms apply to
admission of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/OBC candidates. The entrance examination may be written in either
English or Hindi, but candidates may note that the medium of instruction is English.
6. Foreign students who are recipients of Government of India Scholarship/Sponsorship by any agency of Government of
India will be exempted from the Entrance Examination.
7. All candidates of general category, SC/ST are required to submit along with their registration form a bank draft on State
Bank of India of Rs. 250/-, Rs.100/- respectively in favour of The Executive Director, School of Open Learning, University
of Delhi, payable at New Delhi. This applies to those candidates who wish to appear for the entrance test. All candidates
are also required to submit two copies of a passport size photograph, evidence of date of birth and attested copies of the
qualifying exam results. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe are required to submit
certificates of their status.

1. An Entrance Examination for M.A. (Sanskrit) will be conducted at the School (Main) Building, 5, Cavalry Lane,

2. Successful candidate in this examination will be eligible for admission at the School of Open Learning.
3. Foreign students who are recipients of Government of India Scholarship/sponsorship by any agency of
Government of India will be exempted from the entrance Examination.
4. All candidates will have to pay an Entrance Examination fee (non-refundable) Rs. 250/- for General Candidate and
Rs. 100/- for SC/ST Candidates at the time of registration. Candidates seeking admission to the School of Open
Learning through the Entrance Examination to be held on 05-07-2010 will have to pay this fee through Cash/Bank
Draft in favour of the Executive Director, School of Open Learning, University of Delhi. The duration of the test will
be 2.30 hours.
5. Registration will be done in Room No. 10 at SOL. Last date of registration is 30-06-2010.

Course content for M.A. (Sanskrit) Admission/test


The admission will be based on the level of B.A. (Hons.) Sanskrit examination in subjects like Literature, Grammar,
Philosophy etc. The test will also include questions from contemporary subjects based on General Knowledge.

The format of Question Paper will be as follows :-


1. Essay on contemporary topic/Upma Kalidasaya like saying on Sanskrit authors/ 20 marks
definition of Poetry according to Dandi, Vaman, Bhamah/Raniayana, Mahabharat/Sukti.
