Massaging Renying(ST9)
A lot of research has confirmed that a magical acupoint called Renying (ST9), will lower
your blood pressure instantly if massaged for around 5 minutes.
Renying is located in the anterior region of the neck, at the same level as the superior
border of the thyroid cartilage, anterior to the sternocleidomastoid muscle, over the
common carotid artery.
From your Adam’s apple, move along the texture of the neck, until you reach a raised
muscle. If you put your finger on it and feel your artery beating, you have found right
location of Renying. See the yellow points in the picture.
How to massage Renying?
Press and hold Renying using your index and middle fingers for 15 seconds on both sides
of your neck; alternated between sides, do not press on both sides at the same time. First
press and hold on the left side for 15 seconds, and then press and hold on the right side
for 15 seconds. Repeat for 5 minutes. It is a very simple method. Check your blood
pressure, and you will find that your blood pressure is lower than before.
This method should be used sparingly, as it only lowers your blood pressure in the short
term. You still need to maintain routine treatments to properly address your hypertension,
but massaging your Renying will be an effective treatment in emergency cases; such as
when you forget to take medication. This is only information, not medical advice.
Today, we are going to introduce a very simple, very useful, and very safe acupressure
point to lower your high blood pressure effectively. This acupoint is called auricular
apex.
First, let’s find this acupressure point. Fold your ear, and run your finger along the top of
your ear; the uppermost point is the auricular apex. The function of this acupoint is to
clear the heat and fire in your body. Pinching this point can reduce high blood pressure.
Using your finger nails, put the index finger inside your ear, and the thumb on the top of
this point. Pinch and hold on your left ear for 15 seconds before releasing. Repeat this
process on the right ear; pinch and hold for 15 seconds then release. Keep alternating on
both sides for about 5 minutes totally.
Suggestions
If your blood pressure is very high, you may use this method a couple times daily,
combined with your current treatments. Pinching your ears will result in your blood
pressure showing a decreasing trend in the long term.
Consistently measuring your blood pressuring throughout the day will give you an
accurate gauge of your blood pressure curve throughout the day. The most effective way
to apply this acupressure method, is to perform this stimulation one hour before your high
blood pressure periods. This will help you control your blood pressure well.
If you keep doing this for a period of time, you will find out your blood pressure trends
down. Until then, you should see your doctor regularly and attain advice regarding the
gradual reduction of medication intake.
Lower High Blood Pressure By
Massaging Taichong
For this type of high blood pressure, a highly effective acupressure point located on the
foot called Taichong (LR3) can be used. This point acts as the root of a tree, whereby
massaging this point will induce one’s liver fire down the body, therefore lowering one’s
blood pressure to improve temper.
This acupressure point is located on the dorsum of the foot, between the first and
Massage this acupressure point using your thumb tip, moving up and down the foot.
Apply a little pressure on this point; this will likely result in
some degree of soreness. Perform this process for
5-10 minutes, 2-3 times each day to achieve results. Once you master this treatment, your
blood pressure will lower over time, improving your temper.
Here we introduce a new acupressure point. Massaging this point will help people who
are suffering hypertension, those with cardiovascular problems or those who have been
diagnosed with a cardiovascular disease. It will help lower their high blood pressure.
The location by the definition: Nei Guan is on the anterior aspect of the forearm, between
the tendons of the palmaris longus and the flexor carpi
radialis, 2 B-cun proximal to the palmar wrist
crease.
Note 1: With the fist clenched, the wrist supinated and the elbow slightly flexed, the two
tendons become more prominent. PC6 is located 2 B-cun proximal to PC7. The
posterior point corresponding to PC6 is TE5.
Note 2: If the palmaris longus tendon is not present, PC6 is medial to the flexor carpi
radialis tendon.
To locate this acupoint, straighten your arm, bend your wrist and clench your fist. Two
tendons on the arm will become visible. Nei Guan is located between these tendons,
Use your thumb to press Nei Guan, and your index and middle fingers to press Wai Guan,
which is located on the opposite side of the wrist. When pressed simultaneously, a
sensation of soreness and distention will be felt moving up and down along the arm.
How to locate Wai Guan?
The location by the definition: Wai Guan is on the posterior aspect of the forearm,
midpoint of the interosseous space between the radius and the
You can locate Wai Guan at 3 fingers width from wrist stripes.
Press on these points (Nei Guan and Wai Guan) for roughly 30 seconds. Keep alternating
sides for 5 to 10 minutes for full effectiveness.
Massaging these two acupoints at the same time, will result in a sensation of soreness and
distension, and often feels like radioactivity moving up and down the arm. Since these
two acupoints originally correspond internally and externally, and Wei Guan is on the
Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian of Hand. Its function is to propel qi throughout the body, Qi
is our body force. Our hearts function depends on qi’s force. Likewise, Nei Guan propels
blood throughout the body, Therefore, if we press Nei Guan and Wai Guan
simultaneously, We have qi and blood, one yin and one yang, internal and external forces,
working together for our body to stimulate lower blood pressure.
Conclusion
Continually doing this everyday will help lower the high blood pressure of people
suffering hypertension caused by cardiovascular issues such as angiostenosis,
hyperlipidemia, high blood viscosity or coronary heart disease. Massaging these points
will protect your cardio-cerebral vessels too.
