Interchange ability
 Most of the Logrite components are
interchangeable within the two systems.
 There are a few factors that need to be
considered:
 The colour screen and the numeric keypad work
together.
 If the suregrip keypad is to be used the suregrip
keypad interface needs to be used as well
 The AS666 cab can work with the colour screen and
the monochrome but the AS656 cant work with the
colour screen.
 The AS667 can only work with cab versions 5.00 and
higher

Cutting List Variables
Log Specification Details Purpose

Grade (Grade - 3 characters) To identify each log specification by grade

Target length Sets the optimum (Target) length for this log specification. This is
(0 -30.00m or 0 - 98.43ft) automatically calculated once Max and Min values are entered but can
(0 – 24m or 0 – 74ft) on 616, 620, 622 be overridden by the operator.
machines.

Min length Sets shortest (Minimum) length for this log specification

Max length Sets longest (Maximum) length for this log specification

Min SED (Small End Diameter) Sets the smallest (Minimum) Small End Diameter (SED) for this log
specification.

Max LED (Large End Diameter) Sets the largest (Maximum) Large End diameter (LED) for this log
(0 - 999mm or 0 – 39.3") specification.

Max Speed Sets the percentage of full speed at which the log will be transported
(0 - 120%) when being processed.
Goto log (alternative specification) Sets the preferred log alternative specification if during processing, the
target log specification cannot be achieved.

Log Specification Details Purpose

Paint Colour (0 - 7) Sets the paint colour combination for each grade when paint marking is
fitted.
Max SED
Is the largest permissible SED in a log specification.

Value ($/m3) Optimiser log value.

Order Full Sets trigger point to warn operator that volume order required has been
filled for this grade.

Quality Grade Optimiser quality class, sometimes called assortment.

Allows this log to automatically select the topsaw whenever this pre-
Saw select is chosen. When set to Selectable, saw selection defaults to main
saw and is selectable by the operator.

CALIBRATE LENGTH

24/05/2018 39
actronic
Automatic length calibration

Automatic length calibration

is used for initial setup
when new components
are installed
This will provide a good
starting point for length
accuracy in adjusting the
scale factor

24/05/2018 40
actronic
Adjusting scale factor
 Scale factor adjusts for
wheel wear or
penetration
 If log had been cut or
nicked use last cut
 If you measured to the
saw face use length
 Adjust scale factor until
(last cut/length) equals
tape measure

24/05/2018 41
actronic
Accept scale factor
 Scale factor is adjusted
with green scroll key
 Scroll right, make
necessary changes,
press SET soft key to
accept change
 Old scale factor will not
be retained when screen
is exited

actronic
Menu quick access
 Pressing RUN soft key will
jump to Run screen
 From Run screen pressing
EXIT soft key will jump back to
the previous screen
 This allows quick access for
minor adjustments
 Increase SF if logs are short
 Decrease SF if logs are long

actronic
Diameter calibration

24/05/2018 44
actronic
Diameter table

 The diameter table

provides reference
information to the
computer on the
position of the
measuring arms
 Fully closed and fully
open points are
required for diameter
measuring to function
correctly
 Press ADD soft key

24/05/2018 45
actronic
Measure the diameter
 Using a round tree
 Position the tree in the head and
cut the end with the main saw,
for safety inch the tree so
hands will be outside the path
of the saw bar & chain
 Measure three ways and use
average
 Scroll right and enter diameter
 Press SET soft key to accept
diameter

24/05/2018 46
actronic
Measuring stem diameter
 Measure across the stem
including the bark
 Take the average of two or
three measurements
 Bark thickness will be
removed from volume
calculation if offset is entered
in cutting list

24/05/2018 47
actronic
Building the diameter table
 Continue to enter diameters
 New diameters will be inserted
in their correct position
 Add only enough diameters for
display to show actual wood
diameter
 Encoder counts shown are
actual plus 5000 for ease of
computer programming

24/05/2018 48
actronic
Invalid diameter
 Diameters that are too
close or diameters with
similar encoder counts
will be rejected as invalid
 Deleting another
diameter that is close will
allow entry of this new
more accurate diameter

Accessing Measuring Parameters

24/05/2018 50
actronic
Measuring Parameters
 Parameters are:
 Max auto speed
 Crawl speed
 Jump speed
 Brake distance
 Crawl distance
 Reducing the crawl speed and
brake distance would only
make the machine go slower
as it starts pulsing.
 Pulsing causes inaccurate
measurements.

Power and Comms flow through
the Logrite controller
 Cab module distributes a power to the other
parts of Logrite
 Cab module monitors the power to the head
module and can shut it down, while the power to
display and keypad cannot be shut down
 Head module supplies and monitors a power for
encoders and sensors on head
 Cab module controls and communicate with all
other parts of Logrite, but they cannot
communicate between themselves

Diagnostic procedure
There are three ways to diagnosing a problem with the
Logrite controller:
 Identification using software diagnostics
 Identification of a faulty module ( troubleshooting of
individual modules)
 Retrieve data with PC/laptop then email data to
factory for detailed analysis

24/05/2018 65
actronic
Software diagnostic
 The software can diagnose many power supply and
hardware problems itself. The Diagnostic Testings Menu
allows checking of:
 Cab voltage monitor, cab left and right handle and
cab outputs
 Head voltage monitor, head inputs and outputs
 Loop time
