Topic/theme : Winter clothing

Title of Activity:Winter Mittens

Purpose/objective :
The purpose of this activity is to help children understand the types of clothing to wear during
winter.
Given construction paper mittens, markers, crayons, glue, glitter, children will use their fine
motor skills to color and decorate a mitten.

3 sets of crayons (1 per table)
18 right hand mittens --(with the
choice of purple or blue)construction
paper
18 left hand mittens--white
construction paper
3 sets of markers (for the older kids
table ex:Green and Blue table )
2 Organizer full of glitter (Pink and
Green)
String so that they can be tied
together when they are finish

Sequence Activity Procedures

1 (Setup) Adreyona-Pass out the mitttens

Jenifer -Pass out the books so each child has one
Itzel -Pass out the Crayons
Brianna -write down each child's name on their mitten plus the date
Grisel- Pass out the markers
Me- Fill the containers with the green and pink glitter

2 (Introduction)
Bring in a pair of mittens and ask questions about it
Ex: What is it ? , Can anybody tell me what they are used for?
Have the children pass the mitten around and get a feel of it and have a chance to
wear them.

3 Read the kids the mitten book .

4 Send the kids by table so they can start decorating their own personal mittens (out of
construction paper which were prepared beforehand ) . First have the kids draw, and
color the mittens anyway they want to and afterwards have the teacher's tie their
mittens together and hang them up .

5 (Closure) Ask the them can they tell me anything about mittens that they learned from
the story. Afterwards send the kids to centers
