Clinician Support
With the Arctic Sun® 5000
Temperature Management System,
initiation can begin when critical
patients arrive at the door.

Initiate in Minutes

Designed to facilitate initiation in a

busy critical care environment, targeted
temperature management begins with just
two buttons, quickly and easily. Without
delay and without the risks associated with
invasive cooling methods.
Intuitive Touchscreen

Designed to be easy to read and use, the touchscreen

allows you to quickly select your therapy and touch
Start. Once you’ve initiated, the system gets to work
immediately to reach the prescribed temperature so
you can tend to your critical patient’s needs.

Precision Targeting

Every second during

therapy, the Arctic Sun®
Temperature Management
System monitors patient
temperature against your
Hypothermia Case target, making micro-
adjustments to the water
temperature 30x/hr to
ensure the therapy is
delivered to your protocol.

The patented ArcticGel™ Pads are the key component

that sets the Arctic Sun® Temperature Management
System apart from other cooling methods. The pads
feature a thin hydrogel coating that ensures they maintain
contact with the patient’s skin throughout the treatment.
The conductive properties of the pads mimic water immersion.1
The ArcticGel™ Pad Patented Three-Layer Nurse-initiated Therapy
Construction Pads can be placed in minutes, treatment
Hydrogel ensures constant and direct is automated
contact between the pad and the skin,
a thin film layer optimizes the thermal Non-Invasive
exchange of water, and the insulating layer Avoids risk of nosocomial infections
prevents thermal loss to the environment associated with invasive cooling options

Rapid Patient Access Solution for Larger Patients

Pads allow for full access to groin and chest Universal ArcticGel™ Pad increases body
surface area coverage on larger patients
Leak Proof™ Technology
If punctured, pads will not leak 1

Indications for Use: The Arctic Sun® Temperature Management System is
intended for monitoring and controlling patient temperature. Contraindications:
There are no known contraindications. Warnings: When using the Arctic Sun®
Temperature Management System, note that all other thermal conductive
systems, in use while warming or cooling with this device may interfere with
patient temperature control. • Cautions: Do not place ArcticGel™ Pads on skin
that has signs of ulceration, burns, hives or rash.• Caution should be exercised
with any patient with a history of skin allergies or sensitivities. • Due to underlying
medical or physiological conditions, some patients are more susceptible to skin
damage from pressure and heat or cold. Patients at risk include those with
poor tissue perfusion or poor skin integrity due to diabetes, peripheral vascular
disease, poor nutritional status, steroid use or high dose vasopressor therapy.
Examine the patient’s skin under the ArcticGel™ Pads. • Skin injury may occur
as a cumulative result of pressure, time and temperature. • Carefully remove
ArcticGel™ Pads from the patient’s skin at the completion of use. Aggressive
removal or removal of cold pads from the patient’s skin may result in skin tears.
• The rate of temperature change and potentially the final achievable patient
temperature is affected by many factors. Treatment application, monitoring
and results are the responsibility of the attending physician. If the patient does
not reach target temperature in a reasonable time or the patient is not able to
be maintained at the target temperature, the skin may be exposed to low or
high water temperatures for an extended period of time which may increase
the risk for skin injury. • Please consult package insert for more detailed safety
information and instructions for use.
