Introduction

A good health worker should always ensure that patients are attended to effectively. They

have to cater to the many needs of different individuals carefully they encounter in their line of

work. Diversity comes in healthcare due to the different cultures and languages among the

patients hence leading to communication barriers between health workers and patients.

Acknowledging different cultures will, therefore, lead to good working ethics hence promoting

good communication which will lead to a serene environment of delivering correct medical

attention to patients (Bolderston, 2018). It can, therefore, be, in the form of the age factor gender,

race, religion and social, economic status. Therefore, this paper will scrutinize diversity and

cultures among folks, and how they create a challenge to health workers when delivering

healthcare.

A culture of people shows mostly their lifestyles beliefs, traditions, and customs. Now,

nurses as caregivers need to take extra caution while dealing with patients so as not to abuse or

criticize one’s cultural way of life. Different techniques and principles used by health workers

can influence how a patient can embrace health care decisions; a good example is the

individualist approach which is by far the most effective approach (Smedley & Mittman, 2011).

The nurse here, must, therefore, have a full understanding of the preferred education style of the

patient to deliver a lesson that is meaningful. Nurses, in this case, concur and conclude that

disease prevention and health promotion is critical to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and this can

be achieved by promoting overall wellness.

Conclusion

In conclusion, health workers have a mandate to observe and monitor their patients

carefully, be cautious of their culture at all times, by their caregiver, teach them about health and

medication and act as patients advocate. Lastly, to ensure proper health care, there should always

be effective communication between the health worker and the patients.
