related to the importance of security aspects between Japan-China. To obtain more coherent
results, data collection in the context of history and contemporary issues are analysed. The
study analysed the security relationship between Japan and China, and addressed the
important issues such as the history of conflict between the two countries, the Senkaku / Diaoyu
islands dispute, the Tacit Treaty, the Japan Security Policy during World War II, Article 9,
Japan National Security Policy, the Japanese-American military alliance and the Abe Doctrine
after Abe returned to parliament. In addition, the North Korean nuclear issue this year has
been one of the central argument of the election campaign and one of the factors identified in
the Japan-China relations which continues to be strengthened. Although the Liberal
Democratic Party (LDP) is the dominant party in the effort to loosen the threats from
Pyongyang with the concern of the proliferation of North Korean missiles, China's assistance
is significant in losing the provocation and tensions. The study found that Abe would play a
more dominant role in resolving the crisis after winning elections October 22, 2017. However,
it is improper to interpret the Japanese - Chinese relations only in the negative perceptions
under the Abe administration. Instead, it is a combination of healthy competition and
cooperation as also involving economic interdependence, the importance of stability and
prosperity in a global context and to be prepared to face the challenges together.

INTRODUCTION

The relationship between Japan and China remains a centrepiece of ChinaÕs regional strategy
and deserves attention. As new generations of Chinese elites with no personal experience of
the Second World War, emerge the historical inscription in ChinaÕs policy toward Japan will
hopefully disappear. Nationalism is also rising and constraining Asian countries from forming
a state-driven regional community. Thus, economic, security and political imperatives are
diverging in East Asia. Economic imperatives are working toward interdependence, however,
political and security essentials are working toward nationalism within and between East Asian
countries. In Japan, there has been an increasing rate of compromisation that the full chance of
assignation with China is preparatory to look like it was a mistake. Their neighbour has not
transformed constitutionally, nor has it established indebted or friendly feelings to Japan. On
the opposing, it has come progressively to look like JapanÕspoorest nightmare, communist-led
