Step 1 Professional Growth Goal (specific): To improve my teaching effectiveness in the School’s
Greatest Area of Need Subject and Indicators. The subject is Reading and the Indicators are
Letter Recognition, Letter Sound Recognition, Phoneme Segmentation and Non-Sense Words.

learners, evaluate student progress and performance, and modify teaching and learning
strategies (e.g., observation, student portfolios, and assessments, rubrics, educator-made tests,

If I improve my effectiveness in teaching Reading and Indicators for Letter Recognition, Letter Sound
Recognition, Phoneme Segmentation and Non-Sense Words, then my student outcomes improve.

KINDERGARTEN SMART GOAL: By the end of SY2017 – 2018, 100% of Kindergarten


students will show growth in Reading Foundational Skills as measured by the 35% or higher on
AIMS Web Early Literacy Test (Letter Naming, Letter Sounds, Phoneme Segmentation and
Non-Sense Words).

42% of my students at Tier I will be proficient according to the criteria in Letter Naming, Letter
Sounds, Phoneme Segmentation and Non-Sense Words as measured by the AIMS Web Early
Literacy Test by the end of the school year.

11% of my students at Tier II will be proficient according to the criteria in Letter Naming,

I will research and watch Edivation videos that will help incorporate a variety of assessment
techniques that will enhance knowledge of learners, evaluate student progress and performance, and
modify teaching and learning strategies.
