The following are the steps by which you could create a flat slab with drop down on the

column
head.

(a) First create a (1x1) feet square column section.

(b) On the top, add a column head of (2x2) x1.6 feet. (in the picture the depth the
column head is 1.2 feet = (1.6-0.8/2) , where 0.8 ft. is the thickness of the drop down
slab.)

(c) Create drop down slab of 0.8 ft. thickness and the surround slab of 0.5 ft. thickness.

(d) To make the top surface of surrounding slab coplanar with the top surface of the drop
down slab, shift up (MOVE option) the slab by 0.15 ft.

(e) Rigidly link the periphery nodes of the drop down slab with the nodes of surrounding
slab by MASTER-SLAVE option.

The intention of shifting up the surrounding slab is to only simulate the actual
geometrical requirement like elevation of the surround slab (which may be
considerable when you generate the complete floor plan and the elevation of every
slab is equally significant.)
(f) To get the punching effect nearby the periphery of the column head, eight nodes as
shown below and the centre node have been linked rigidly by MASTER-SLAVE
feature.
After analysis, to perform the flexural design of slab ,you need to consider the Mx
and My moment only.
