Guideline Questions for your Reflections:

a. Why did you choose this unit topic?

In MEP 2013 pre-school education program, a curriculum with objectives and indicators being
prepared instead of unit concept. We have prepared our activities that we have prepared inspired
by this and we have gained some indication-focused activities. In addition, one of the main
objectives of preschool education is to support the creativity of children. For this reason, one of
the achievements we have chosen is "expressing themself in creative ways."
b. When you are planning your unit and lesson plans, which of the ASSURE steps do
you think you spend most of your time thinking about? Why?
For each individual phases in the ASSURE model, please write your experiences and
rationales while designing your unit plan, lesson plan, and materials. Make sure
your reflection involves your answers to these questions:

We spent most of the time in the State Standards and Objectives section when you are planning
your unit and lesson plans. When we decided on our activities, our main objective and indicator
was to determine and make a profit for the children. This acquisition would have to involve four
activities. For this reason, it was time-spending to choose our achievements and create an activity
as well as to adapt these activities to media tools.

We have tried to consider all phases of the ASSURE model while designing our plan related to
the objective. First, when defining “Analyze learners”, we decided what activities were included
in which level of activity and at which developmental level. In doing so, we also looked at the
media tools we use, as well as the effectiveness, because the level of attention and interest of the
students can vary by age. Another step is “State Standards and Objectives”. When we decided
to the objective, we decided how effective the purpose we wanted to teach the children was. Our
aim was to choose a way for children to meet in daily life and develop themselves. For this
reason, we prepared our achievement both for the children’s interest and for their needs. Because
of preparing it, we also consider to the ABCD model which contain Audience, Behavior to be
demonstrated, Conditions under which the behavior will be observed, Degree to which the
learned skills are to be mastered. Later, we decided to “Select Strategies, Technology, Media,
and Materials”. The materials we chose were carefully designed to be interesting for children.
While choosing the strategies, media and technology, we mostly focus on the concept and we
need to know that the children are in the educational needs of the children. After that, “Utilize
Technology, Media, and Materials” was decided to preview and prepare technology, prepare
the environment and learners, and provide the learning experience. These are all required to
present our activities more affectively and planned way. Another part is “Require Learner
Participation”. Activities should be actively involved by children. For this reason we
encouraged children to participate in activities and directed them. We aim to provide full
participation on this count. The last part of the ASSURE model is “Evaluate and Revise”. The
evaluation of activities is also a very important part as much as the application of the activities.
There are many issues to be considered, such as whether children have fun and learning from
activities or not. It informs us whether these activities are appropriate for children.

c. How did you determine the prerequisite skills or knowledge (if any) for your plan?
What is the rationale behind the time allocation?
Before we prepared the activities, we took care to prepare the children for their readiness. For
example, we thought that children would not be able to do activities related to this topic without
knowing ATATÜRK, so we thought that this activity would not be meaningful and gave children
preliminary information before preparing the activities. In addition, children's small muscle skills
had to be developed as well. We considered this because we needed skills such as cutting and
pasting in our activities.
In addition, the time we have set for the activities must be adequate for both children and should
be adjusted to the attention span of the children. As the age levels of children become smaller,
attention is diminishing with time. Thinking about it, we set the time accordingly.
d. How did you determine and write your objectives?
When choosing objectives and indicators, we took care to choose the activities that children can
actively participate in. These activities were organized in accordance with the children's interests,
needs, age and developmental levels. In addition, care was taken to ensure that children are the
subjects they face most in daily life.
e. How did you decide instructional methods, media and materials? Why did you
choose them?
When choosing materials and media for our activities, we paid attention to the compatibility of
our activities with the media. We used the media to get the children's attention to ensure the
integrity of the topic. For example, in our activity about ATATURK, we watched the children
video by Go animate. Our goal here is to make the children more memorable by using visual
materials. We also wanted to expand our learning environment by targeting families while
applying Google form.
f. What is the instructional theory on which your instructional activities are based? Or
do you use eclectic approach for them? Why?
We intended to use the creative curriculum teaching method when preparing these activities. It is
designed to offer a rich content program for kids with different backgrounds and skills and to
help educators at all levels. We think that the child is one of the best ways to help him achieve
success in learning to be a creative and self-confident thinker. We realized our goal by
enthusiating the children with the activities given in the classroom environment.
g. How did you plan to utilize these instructional methods, media and materials?
By using these teaching methods, we can easily apply the activities to the class. Once we know
children and know their interests and needs, we can easily combine and implement our teaching
methods. We can also implement media tools and materials that we have prepared simultaneously
with this. As we have prepared these materials are appropriate and accessible for children, we can
adapt them to other activities and use them again.
h. How did you plan for learner participation?
We took care of children's participation in every activity. That's why we gave importance to
creativity. We encouraged children to express themselves at activities. For example, in “stick
man” activity children collect the stick and make their own stick man.
i. How did you plan for evaluation and revision? What is the rationale for choosing
the measurement and evaluation methods?
We can use assessment methods that we have already learned in our lesson. Asking questions,
painting, and organizing other activities can be done by children from these methods. There are
also another media tools to assess the children knowledge. The Google forms, Obsurvey, or
Survey monkey, etc. It is also very important to include the parent in the children's education
process. In the assessment process we can give the child a role in the child's learning process.
Homework that can be sent home to improve the learning environment at home can be one of
these. As a result, the main purpose here is whether the child has attained the desired behaviors
that the child has attended. As a result, these lesson plans we have prepared have become a tool
that can help and guide us in our future teaching life. Thank you for this opportunity.
