INFLUENCE OF DETERMINATION OF DEMONSTRATION METHOD ON

BEHAVIOR OF HAND WASHING IN CHILDREN IN SDN 3 MOJOPANGGUNG
DISTRICT BANYUWANGI IN 2017

Wash the Hand Wearing Shabs (CTPS) is one of the actions by cleaning hands and
fingers using water and soap to be clean and prevent the onset of disease. Efforts to improve
handwashing behavior by demonstration methods. The purpose of this study was to determine
the effect of demonstration method extension on handwashing behavior in children at SDN 3
mojopanggung Banyuwangi Regency Year 2017.
The design of this study used pre-experimental research design with one group pre and
post test. Technique of collecting data using observation sheet then analyzed by using Wilcoxon
test with 5% significant level, sampling technique using total sampling with population of 57
respondents in grade IV-V students at SDN 3 Mojopanggung.
Based on the results of research from 57 respondents before the counseling most of 68%
(39 respondents) wash hands are categorized less, From the calculation of SPSS 22 for windows
with Wilcoxon test obtained by Asymp.Sig. (2 tailed) = 0,000 <α = 0,05 then Ho is rejected Ha
accepted which means there is influence counseling method of demonstration against
handwashing behavior in child.
Counseling with demonstration methods can improve children's knowledge, child
absorption and child's interest in learning, and can improve the behavior of clean and healthy life
(PHBS) in changing handwashing behavior.
