Summary

The graphs illustrate the rate of echinoderm population in certain European countries
during 1985 to 2015. From an overall perspective, it can been seen that the rate of echinoderms
tends to drop during the concentrated 30 years. The nearby countries’ trends tend to show
similar rate. The Scandinavian countries which are Norway and Sweden’s rate of echinoderms
increased after 30 years studied by about 20 individuals/hectares. For a slight difference, the
countries from the UK like Netherlands, UK, Denmark and Ireland made a slight decrease by
approximately 20 individuals/hectares throughout the time during 1985 to 2015. Markedly, The
area of the countries located in central Europe which are Portugal, Spain and France showed a
continuous decrease and dropped dramatically during 2000 to 2015, by roughly 30
individuals/hectares from 1985. Sea urchins are widely needed in world market after past 30
years. Their prices are appraised expensively and popular among people. The demand of
these echinoderms is excessive and neglected, therefore the decreasing rate is visible. This can
be the cause of the decline in echinoderm population. Although sea urchin population have
been affected by the acidification of the oceans, the consumption is the main reason for sea
urchin population going downward. For that reason, it is crucial to have less sea urchin
consumption due to the fact that sea urchin needs time to recover their population number and
not becoming endangered species.

Manipulation

As the prize of sea urchin is increasing in the market because of the decreasing of sea
urchin population. This is not a problem. Even though the rate of sea urchin population showed
a slight decline and affected a large area of European countries. Sea urchins tended to migrate
to the North to survive and protect their clan according to the evidences appear on each graph.
As can be seen from the graph of the Scandinavian that it shows an upward trend. According to
this, it is predictable that the sea urchins are moving towards North.
