behaviors and activities exert a major influence on local communities. Thus, those economic and social
impacts should not be disregarded. Action must be taken to tackle economic, environmental, and cultural
issues, and attention should be paid to how attractions are produced, and how tourists behave.

This course provides fundamental tourism concepts and activities, including the overview of the tourism
industry, tourism through the ages, world/national/regional organizations, passenger transportation,
hospitality and related services, organizations in the distribution process,
attractions/entertainment/recreation & other tourist draws, motivation for pleasure travel, sociology of
tourism, tourism demand & supply, tourism’s economic impacts, tourism & the environment, and the
future of tourism.
