Creating Floor Panels and Beam General Arrangement

- We will start with the Floor 1 and copy it to form the first floor and the roof level.
- Usually you should have decided how the floor arrangement will be drawn. See the diagram
below for the Ground floor, First Floor and Roof Beam arrangements. They are deduced
from the architectural floor plan and then drawn with the software.
- The standard procedure in the software is to start with the First floor arrangement at Floor 1
(Floor 1 is the default floor) and later copy it to form first floor. You can change the ground
floor if it differs from this.
- There are many ways to form or draw the Floor arrangement with the software but let stick
with the standard method.

Some more things you need to know about the floor

The Navigation buttons

1. Move First: Click to move to the beginning floor

2. Move Previous: Click to move to the Previous floor

3. Move Next: Click to move to the Next floor

4. Move Last: Click to move to the Last floor

Current Floor Level

1. The Current Floor Level shows the floor level in millimetres.

2. As you can notice from the picture above the default Floor 1 Floor Level is 0
3. Floor Level is “0“ can indicate that the floor is the Ground Floor, although you can
choose to call your starting floor any name you want.
4. If the starting floor is a basement, then you may change the Current Floor Level to
“-3150”. See the picture below.

5. You should only change the Starting Floor or Default Floor Current Floor Level only
when you have a basement, otherwise leave at unchanged at “0”. Must building starting
(Ground) Floor level is 0.
6. Do not change the Current Floor Level for subsequent floors (First Floor, Second Floor
etc.), the software does that automatically and it might affect the floor coordination of
the software if you change it. Generally you don’t need to do anything at the Current
Floor Level.
P a g e 16 | 48

7. For this exercise leave it unchanged. Do nothing.

New Upper Floor Height

1. The New Upper Floor Height controls the floor height of the new upper floor.
2. In the New Upper Floor Height you are basically telling the software that in the next
new upper floor I am about to create use this as my floor height.
3. If you observed it is call new upper floor height, which means it applies only to newly
created floor directly above the current floor. It does not control the floor height of
existing floors and the current floor.
4. The floor Height is important in the software, it controls the alignment or positioning of
the Floors, the beam and the columns in the building.
5. For this exercise leave it unchanged. Do nothing. Default New Upper Floor Height is
3150.
6. To change the New Upper Floor Height, click the New Upper Floor Height textbox and
change it. Let assume a floor height of 4000

7. Floor Heights can also vary, all you need to do is to change the New Floor Height before
you create the new floor or copy an existing floor.

Changing View to Floor View (Floor Modelling View)

1. The default view is the Floor View (Floor Modelling View). All structural elements
(Concrete floor Panels, beams, columns etc.) are created in the Floor View (Floor
Modelling View).
2. All detailed drawings are generated or drawn in the Drawing Page View.
3. Drawings in the Floor View is structured, while drawings in the Drawing View are not
structured. So be careful what you do in the Floor view so that you don’t affect the
structural integrity of your design.
4. To change to Floor View, click View and click Floor View.
