URBAN CULTURES

INTRODUCTION

Urban culture is the culture of towns, cities and people. The defining theme is
the presence of a great number of very different people in a very limited space most of
them are strangers each other. This makes it possible build up a vast array of subcultures
close each other, exposed each other's influence. The influential urban cultures could be
the bikers, rockers, skaters, emos, frikies, Rastafarians, punks, goths, and hipsters.

“Rockers” are characterized because his hair is long, they usually wear black
clothes, some rockers wear t-shirts of Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Beatles, Iron Maiden,
Metallica, AC/DC. Now, lots of them also wear accessories like metal chains, necklaces,
belts, scarves, etc. A rocker is a person who likes rock music as a way of life; their
character is serene and peaceful while dealing with “normal” people, but in a concert
awakens the demon they carry inside, with a great explosion of energy. They listen classic
rock, rock and roll, hard rock, blues-rock, some punk music or heavy metal or trash metal.

“Bikers” are people who are dedicated the extreme sport of BMX, which
consists in perform tricks in street, dirt, flatland, or bike parks, using a bicycle especially
for this. As for the music at this point is divided the tribe, on those who listen punk, rap
or hip hop. You can listen any type of music, but these genera appointed are the most
used. The function of the music is the relaxation and concentration for tricks, say music
you "ignites".The places where they meet we could say that here the bikers share
something in common with the other tribes, the bikepark streteras OR THE SQUARE.

“Frikies” are not an urban tribe proper, although if they fulfill a series of
common qualities that we will try to summarize below. They are distinguished by having
unusual tastes and hobbies to spend their free time, on subjects such as video games,
comics, television series, technology, etc. These people are often distinguished by being
unsociable, not caring what others think of them and getting together with other people
of similar tastes. Although at the beginning of the year 2000, when the term began to
popularize, the word "geek" was taken as an insult

CONCLUSION

The urban cultures are part of a changing society, in which they make the
difference imposing their own style and way of being, think and act before to society.
Each culture only tries enjoy its own way without intervening in the life of others; in this
case, we consider that the bikers, rockers and frikies are an integral part of our day to day
life in small or big cities, finding them in the main parks, bars and places that they feel
comfortable.
