Signature Assignment ECD 430

1. Name the school or educational setting that you plan to teach at when you graduate. Describe
the geographical location and type of school that it is.
 The school that I plan to teach once I graduate from Fresno Pacific would be Bailey
Elementary School. The school is located in my hometown Firebaugh, CA right across from
the preschool that I work at. The school teaches from kindergarten to second grade.
2. Name the grade level that you want to teach.
 The grade that I would like to teach would be transitional kindergarten students.
3. Make a chart of the actual movement concepts you will teach. Do not use the picture in the
project example given to you.
 Complete but will be on PowerPoint.
4. Discuss how will you use skill themes in your teaching.
 The skill theme that would be presented to the children would be football. The children will
learn to hold their balance, eye –hand coordination and be able to understand the proper
amount of force needed to throw a ball. As well as how to work as a team.
5. Take one skill theme and show an 18-day sequence you will use in teaching. You may extend on
the lesson you created in Week 3 to create the skill theme or create a new 18 day sequence on a new
skill theme
 Identify the different areas of the football.
 Practice throwing the ball with one hand.
 Practice throwing the ball while running and keeping balance.
 Practice kicking the ball while standing.
6. Using the movement wheel take the skill theme you used in item 6 and apply one of the
movement concepts to it to show the interaction of the movement concepts and the skill themes.

7. State what special things you will do to establish a learning environment in your class.
 Provide positive feedback
 Make the curriculum fun and interesting.
 Make hands on activities in the lesson plan.
8. Outline what techniques you will use to establish discipline.
 Present the class rules to the children and be consistant
 Remind the children about the rules in the beginning of class
 Praise the children that are making good choices
9. Outline what observation techniques you will use to determine if students are mastering the
techniques?
 Anecdotal record sheet: providing short notes as reflection of the child progress.
 Observation checklist: helps with the rating of the Childs development.
10. Describe what evaluation techniques you will use for your students to show that there is
evidence of meeting the objective?
 Progress reports and the fitness testing done through out the year
 Provide support in areas the children struggle
 Make alternative changes
 Build on to the children strength
11. Describe how you can use reflective teaching in your 18 day sequence to ensure you can
accommodate for changes such as students not meeting skill or needing more time or the lesson(s)
did not go as intended. What types of reflective practices/tools will you utilize to ensure professional
growth? Describe how you will use these reflective practices to evaluate your teaching
performance.

12. State how you will use generic skill levels in your teaching to ensure that ALL student levels of
physical activity and abilities have been met and are being challenged to go to the next level of
proficiency.
13. State how you will incorporate students with special needs into your class.
 Provide physical support and guidance for children
 Activities will be planned around the child’s needs
 Modify activities
14. State how much time you will spend on teaching games, dance, and gymnastics in your physical
education program and state the reasons why you chose the amount of time ( use the book for
citations)
 Games, Dancing, and Gymnastics
 35 minutes Monday- Friday followed by the lesson plan
15. State how and why you will integrate movement concepts and skill themes into your
curriculum.
 Use the Greg and Steve song Animal Action.
 The song will provide the children with animal movements were the children will be able to
build their manipulative skills and their locomotor skills.
16. From the curriculum guide you received/asked about from your school that you are working at
contrast and compare DYNAMIC PHYSICAL EDUCATION text to the type of content you plan to
teach. How do they compare or differ in the standards, skill themes, lesson planning or
understanding of the importance of Physical education available to students?

18. State how you will incorporate Self Actualization (affective domain teaching) into your first year
of teaching. Use your Reflections that you learned about yourself from the completed
assignments: VES, assignment and the Thurstone survey to support your reasoning.

19. Conclusion: State what dream do you have for physical education that you want to try to
accomplish in your first year of teaching at the above named educational setting and grade level.
 Provide a positive view of physical education for the children. Allow the children to
experience a positive and fun way to be active.

training, physical education plans etc.
21. Do an excel spread sheet showing the equipment you would like to buy for your class. Show
the name of equipment, manufacture, price and why you need these materials. See Chapter 10
plus the chapter you taught. You may use on-line physical activity catalogs to locate
equipment providers
