INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background
This fieldwork is prepared to have an overall insight of travel and
tourism business in Nepal with reference to the performance of Rhythms Nepal
travels and tours pvt. Ltd. This is currently running a tourism business in Nepal. All
the information is collected primarily from the field itself. Some reference has been
taken from the book of foreign writers and the course book itself.

Tourism represents a growing sector of the economy. Foreign tourism is primarily


confined to Kathmandu valley and major national parks such as the Sagarmatha
National Park (around the Mount Everest area), Annapurna conservation area, and
Chitwan National Park. Tourism has created demands for services and materials that
are slowly changing the ecology, environment and economy of the Himalayan treks
and mountain climbing expedition’s benefit from Nepal’s growing popularity as a
tourist destination.

Few destinations in thse world can match Nepal in the variety of adventure tourism ;
be it mountaineering, trekking, mountain biking, nature tours, culture tours, pilgrim
tours, white-water-rafting, kayaking mountain flights, hot air ballooning, pony
trekking, jungle safaris, bird watching, fishing, bungee jumping, etc. There are many
more special interest tour that takes place throughout the year which includes orchid
tours, mediation courses and seminaries, culture trek, honey hunting, fossil hunting
and many more.
The study is based on very simple analysis, which is readily understandable. Some
few financial tools are also used to make the report more comprehensive and
analytical. Going through this report once can give the basis performances and
structural configurations of the related field. This report consists of information as
per the need of the course requirements.

1.2 Introduction of Rhythms Nepal Mountain Tour And


Travels

Rhythms Nepal Mountain Tour And Travel Pvt Ltd –which is an environmentally
conscious trek and tour operator based in Kathmandu, Nepal, organize holiday to
suit all taste from cultural and adventure tour, treks, mountain expedition, wildlife
safaris.White water rafting, Nepal with the rustic facilities of the remote without
changing praising naturalness of the setting. Its aim is to provide a sound holiday a
fair price and to be the best value in town. It was established in the year 2057 B.S.

Travels

 RNMTT pvt ltd has the guides and staffs with friendly, professional and
responsible, well trained having experience for years in providing
customized services and speak very good English and other languages. They
are trained first abiders and very a comprehensive first aid kit. They are
talent facility in emergency.
 RNMTT emphasize on eco-friendly trip to all staffs to minimize the
environmental impact and children in mind.
 RNMTT compile personalized itinerates and family trips with the needs of
both parents and children in mind.
 RNMTT prefers to provide all organic food on each trek/trip.
 RNMTT provides an environment porter in each organized trek to bring back
all the non-biodegradable items.
 RNMTT cares our staff/ porters by providing enough / warm equipments and
clothes and all of them are insured.
 RNMTT support and respect mature, wildlife, local economy, social and
cultural values of local communities.
 RNMTT follow rules and code of ethics of travel industry.

1.4 Statement of problem


As we know that the main objective of tourism industry is to attract tourist.
It is obtained by assured quality service but in order to have an assured quality
service, it is advisable to use the facilities and services of government registered
hotels, travel agencies, the licensed tour guides only and engage porter only thought
a registered travel and tour agency.

1.5 Objective of the study


The economy of the nation is hugely dependent on the existence and
contributions provided by the sector of tourism business. Hence, tourism plays the
pivotal role to boost up the economy of the nation entitle `Rhythms Nepal tour and
travels pvt ltd`. This company has been operating various traveling and tour
packages for the foreign tourists who are willing to come to Nepal. Therefore as
fieldwork report here I am trying to sketch the following:-
 To see the overall income of RNMTT in tourism business.
 To understand the relative strength and weakness of the concerned
firm.
 To gain the knowledge of fieldwork report writing in partial fulfillment
for degree of bachelor of business studies.
1.6 Focus of the study
The study is primarily focused in the entire overview of the concerned firm
and its contributions. Here, there is no any particular area of specialization in the
report. This report provides the most possible trend and behaviors of the firm. To
facilities these focused area, the relevant information have been collected directly
from the field as far as possible along with some other references. Some major
financial tools are used to demonstrate the finical tools are also used to demonstrate
the finical health of related firm.

1.7 Signification of the study


There is certain significance of this field work report. They are:
 This report provides the bird-eye view to the whole performance of the
concerned firm.
 This can facilitate all the stockholders of this firm.
 It provides the possible information to the related people and the
stockholders.
 It can give the preview of overall strength and weakness of the firm.

1.8 Literature review

Nepal is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of bio-diversity due to its
unique geographical position and latitudinal variation. The elevation of the country
ranges from 60m above sea level to the highest point on earth, Mt Everest at 8848m.
All with a distance of 150km with climatic conditions ranging from sub-tropical to
artic. This wild variation fosters an incredible variation of ecosystems, the greatest
mountain range on earth, thick tropical jungles teeming with a wealth of wildlife,
thundering rivers, forested hills and frozen valleys.

Within this spectacular geography is also one of the richest cultural landscapes
anywhere the country is a potpourri of ethnic groups and subgroups who speak over
70 languages and dialects. Nepal offers an astonishing diversity of sightseeing
attractions and adventure opportunities found nowhere else an earth; and nobody can
join in the numerous annual festivals that are celebrated throughout the year in
traditional style highlighting enduring customs and beliefs.

For the tourist visiting for the pleasure, Nepal is established as important destination
moreover, Nepal has the great value as the birthplace of the lord Buddha and the
country of Mount Everest.

1.9 Limitation of the study


As each and every study has limitation, this study is also not free from
limitation. The report study attempts to evaluate the overall performance of the
related firm with reference to its financial report of four year. It has been tried best
to make the report relevant, informative and factual as far as possible. However,
some limitation of the study still exits:-

The report is prepared based on its published journal likes balance sheet, cash
flow, income statement and other related journals. These data may have been
manipulated. Since the firm was commenced only four years back, the report is
confined from 2070/71to 2073/74
The report does not provide specialized information since it provides an
overall insight of the related firm despite the fact that data and information are
collected from the field itself, some relevant data and information might have
missed out due to the time constraints and other limited sources. Unavailability of
sufficient data, references and resource also limit the study. As a student I have
complete the project work within the constraints of limited budget.

1.10 Research methodology

Research methodology is one of the most effective procedures to arrive to


the desired conclusions. Here I have draw the conclusion basing the quantitative
data available, which is purely scientific the research is done on the basis of
historical data and current trend.

1.10.1 Fieldwork design

This fieldwork contains the presentation of data in scientific and analytical


form. This report has been designed based on the income aspects of
RNMTT pvt. ltd. Since as financial statement, other journals of the firm.

1. 10.2 Source of data


There are mainly two types of data. They are:
 Primary data and
 Secondary data
Primary data: The data which are originally collected for the first time for
the purpose of presentation is known as primary data. Data collected from direct
person interview, indirect oral interview, information through correspondents,
information collected from questionnaire, etc is example of this type of data.

Secondary data: The data, which are originally collected but obtained
from, some published or unpublished sources, is known as secondary data. Data
collected from reports, official publications, semi- official publications, private and
other records maintained by other unpublished sources are the example of secondary
data.
This study is based on both primary and secondary source of data. Primarly
I visiting the firm collected the data presently here. A part from the primary data.
Some of them are secondary which I have collected from the cilents and the
stockholders in the form of question answers.

1.10.3 Data collection procedures


All the data included in this report are collected from the office of RNMTT
pvt. Ltd. They are based on the financial details as provided by the firm. The
interview method is also used while collecting the data.
1.10.4. Data processing tecniques
The data were in tha raw and unorganized form while obtaining from
RNMTT pvt. Ltd. The collected data have been organized analysed and processed
under tabular and diagrammatic form to make decision convenient and easy. Lastly,
summary and conclusion of the study is derived and suitable recommendation is
suggested to the RNMTT pvt. Ltd.

1.10.5. Tools used


The collected and observed data are tabulated with necessary amount of
each overhead using different type of tools. These tools are as follow:

1. Financial Tool: The tools used to measure financial performance of


concern from long-term solvency point of view are called financial tools.
It is used to analysing the performance and financial soundness of
organization.

2. Statistical Tool: The mathematical tools which are used to forcast the on
the basis of past data are called statistical tools. There are various
statistical tools that can be applied in this study mainly
mean,percentage,time series bar diagram,pie chart,standard
deviation,coefficient of variation,karl peason’s correlation
coefficient,probable error and trend analysis.

3. Accounting Tool: The tools used for accounting purpose such as profit
and loss account, balance sheet, cash flow statement, etc is known as
accounting tool.

RSULT AND ANALYSIS

2.1 Analysis of data


The presentation of data is the basic organisation and classification of the data
for analysis.The collected data for the report are in the raw at first.These data
may be in the form of questionnaire, data forms and note cards.these data are
to be arranged systematically for its proper presentation later.The presentation
of the data should be able to give bird’s eye view to the readers.

Here, in this field report the data have been collected to evaluate the
overall performance of related firm.The raw data after collecting have been
preceded and presented in the suitable figure so that it would be easy for the
purpose of analysis.The figure also have have presented in the diagrams.This
helps to interpret the available data and draw the reliable conclusions.
Here, I am trying to present the total income trend of the firm
whether it is increasing or decreasing including different headings. As per the
raw data provided from the company the comparison for those figures are
presented from thye FY 2064/65 to 2067/68. The sources of the income of the
firm are also follows:

The table 2.2 and figures shows that the firm is suffering from low income trend
after the 2071/72. It is maximum in the year 2071/72 amounting Rs 1429550.00 but
after the year it is descreasing trend and coming to the year 2073/74 the income of
the company is only Rs. 535380.00.

The table 2.2 shows, in the FY 2070/71 the income from tour operating is
increasing to 11.09%, which was the highest increase percentage, change as compare
to its previous year. In the year 2071/72,it has the less and negative percentage
change,which was-41.36%.

The table 2.4 shows, in the FY 2071/72 the income from hotel booking is
increased to 26.43%, which was the highest increase percentage change as compare
to its other year. In the year 2072/73 it has the less and negative percentage changes
which was-47.01%.

The table 2.5 shows that the income from trekking and mountaineering is in
continuous decreasing condition and has a negative trend. In the beginning of the FY
2070/71 it was Rs 423880 but reaching in the year 2073/74 is only Rs 85300. Its
change in percentage is continuously negative i.e.-8.41%,-23.84%, and -71.14%.

The table 2.6 shows that I the fiscal year 2071/72the income from jungle
safari is increased to 76.56% which was the highest increase percentage change as
compare to its previous year. In the year 2072/73,it has on income at all and has a
total negative percentage change of -100%.

The table 2.7 shows, that in the FY 2070/71 the income from rafting is 38540.
But in the year 2071/72, it has no income at all and has total negative percentage
change of -100% and in the year 2072/73also it earned Rs. 56000 as net income in
the year 2072/73.

The table 2.8 shows, in the FY 2071/72 the income from ticketing is increased
to 20.70%, which was the highest increasung percentage change as compared to its
previous year.In the year2072/73, it has decreased is income and has a negative
change, which was -65.18%.

The table 2.9 shows, in the FY 2073/74the income from miscellaneous is increased
to 199.23%, which was the highest, increase percentage change as compared to its
previous year.In the year 2072/73, it has less and negative percentage change, which
was -62.93%.

The table 2.10 we can conclude that in the FY 2071/72 the firm generates
highest net income amounting Rs. 722150.00 and highest increasing percentage i.e.
11.03%. But from the fiscal year 2072/73, it is high decreasing trend and in the year
2072/73, company suffers from loss of Rs.-244020.00.

The figure 2.9 shows that, the income of the company is in falling trend but the
expenditure of the company is in rising trend, which is very challenging for the firm.

2.11 Findings
This fieldwork report evaluates the overall performance of the related
firm to its financial report of four year from Fiscal year 2070/71 to 2073/74.In this
research we can conclude that the firm is suffering from low-income trend.the total
income earned during 2071/72 is Rs.1429550 whereas in next year Rs.811110 and
Rs.535380 thereafte.This shows that the overall income of the compan is in fear and
falling yearby year.This research shows tourist mainly in the trekking and
mountaineering is decreasing so the rhythms Nepal mountain tours and trvel had to
focus on attracting tourist by promoting the tourists sites worldwide. Keeping in
view of the present situation and condition of Nepal,it must search for different new
packages for the foreign tourist as well as to those who are willing to travel in
Nepal.

tourism. But dut to different circimstance tourist are not interested to coming
here.So the government has provide a free visafor tourist of SAARCcountriejs and
people’s republic of China.
Keeping in the view of thew resent conflict situation of Nepal, the tour and
travel organiser must search for different new tour packages for the foreign tourist as
wellas to those who are willing to travel in Nepal.Nepal is a country of rich cultural
heritage.It offers an incomparable scope to connoisseurs of art andf culture to see
and study the different aspect of fine arts in its painting, sculpture, woodcarving and
architecture. The main facor to attract tourists is the fact that Nepal has manage to
preserve more endangered species of flora and fauna that any other area in Asia.
Nepal has nine national parks and three wildlife reserves, which include areas in the
highest mountains in the world as well as sub-tropical lowland of the plains.

CHAPTER III

SUMMARY CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

3.1 Summary:

This fieldwork report provides the general information about the


tourism business with reference to the Rhythms Nepal mountain tours and
travels pvt.ltd. The information include the meaning of tourism business, its
background, tourism business in Nepali context, introduction to Rhythms Nepal
mountain tours and travels, its financial and other analysis with the help of different
financial toolsm diagrams, and figures. For these reasons, the data related to the
concerned firm have been presented. The data are included as much as possible to
give a clear view to overall performance of the business firm.

The data here in this fieldwork report are diractly collected from the
office of Rhythms Nepal mountain tours and travels. Since it is a tourism business
and registered as per the rules and regulation of the government, ministry of tourism,
it maintains limited legal formalities and other aspects of performance are also
confined. Therefore, the evaluation is done based on that available information. Still,
the information are tried to be presented as comprehensibly as possible.

It is also seen from the study thet the overall income of the company is in
fearably falling year by year. Tourist mainly in the trekking mountaineering is
decreasing. So that, individually the firm and the government also has to be careful
to attract tourist in Nepal by different tools of business promotion world widely.

3.2 Conclusion:
Tourism is a service industry well known universally for the business of
pleasure and peace of mind. Tourism industry is a very big and profitable industry of
our country, Nepal. More than 25% of Nepal’s income depends upon tourism
industry as Nepal has numerous possibilities for tourists of all over the world
throughout the country. In context of Nepal, a large percentage of the national
revenue comes from the tourism sector. Due to the publicity and development of
information technology, Nepal is known all over the world now. There are various
worse situations where, political parties, student’s union and much other association
are making the overall economy worse that ever but tourists have not change their
plans to visit Nepal which is a very good sign for the firm like Rhythms Nepal tours
and travel and other many tourism industry.

There are no any confusion that the tourism industry plays a vital role in the
uplightment of the economy of the nation. They contribute remarkably in the field of
national incom.among the various travel businesses in the economy of Nepalese
context, rhythms Nepal travel and tours is one of them. It organize holiday to suit all
taste from cultural and adventuretours,treks,mountain expeditions,bird
watching,bunjy jumping,village tours, wildlife safari,white water rafting Nepal with
the rustic facilities of the remote without changing pristine naturalness of the setting.

The fieldwork report prepared with reference reveals the overall performance

finincial health of the firm does not seem so healthy but is in a progressive stage.The
firm is struggling to penetrate the market. The management is liberalized and
democratic.There is very huge future prospect for the firm if it implements some
corrective actions regarding to its financial and managerial aspects.The increasing
trend of foreign tourist coming to Nepal show that there is a promising future for
this firm.Nevertheess, the contribution of RNMTT in the economy of the nation and
in the field of facilities provided for tourist is significant.

3.3 Recommendation:
Suggestions are completely based on the findings of the study
regarding the firm and market as whole.

 First, the firm needs to take immediate corrective actions as per the
current situations of Nepal.
 The firm should use the different marketing tools in order to attract
the mass of tourist and the agents abroad.
 The firm should focus on promoting our old and traditional art and
culture.
 The firm should make the trip pleasant and memorable to the
tourist.
 The firm should focus on the personal marketing and has to
participate in different trade fair in foreign countries.
 The firm should try to minimize its operating cost, since the income
of the firm is increasing trend.
 The firm should focus on the personnel development through
proper recruitment.
 Keeping in view of the present conflict situation of Nepal, it must
search for different new tour packages for the foreign tourists as
well as to those who are willing to travel Nepal.
 It must provide some special discount on international air ticketing
to those students who are going abroad for study as it in increasing
trend in Nepal.
