Changed things :

1) CVVT system: Theta 2.0 TCI has dual CVVT is applied. (intake, exhaust)
- Total 4 CVVT assembly is applied (2 CVVT for exhaust, 2 CVVT for intake)
- 2 CMP sensor is used. Each sensor for each camshaft.
- Exhaust OCV is installed in camshaft cap.

BK Engine (Theta 2.0 TCI)

2) Turbo charger system : WGT (Waste Gate Turbocharger) with RCV (Recirculation Valve) is
applied, engine performance can be increased and can make engine size compact.

3) BSM eliminated : BSM (Balance Shaft Module) is eliminated in Theta 2.0 TCI engine different
from conventional Theta engine.

4) Intake system : VIS(Variable Intake System) is eliminated. (In NF sonata F/L vehicle VIS is
applied.) To control turbo charger vacuum chamber is applied inside intake manifold.

2) Check the current data related to turbo charger system as below

[ Ignition ON condition]

Rev:0 Jan,’08 16
BK Engine (Theta 2.0 TCI)

[Idling condition]
 Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor signal shows 0.4 bar different from ignition ON condition
(1.0bar shown). This means when an engine is running cylinder suck air so pressure inside
cylinder is decreased. (vacuum status). Depending acceleration this MAP value is increased.
(maximum around 1.2 bar)

3) Current data when DTC occurred

Check the current data when BPS (Boost Pressure Sensor) connector is removed. What is
different thing?

Rev:0 Jan,’08 17
BK Engine (Theta 2.0 TCI)

When BPS connector is removed then “Turbo Charger Boost Pressure” shows 0.1 bar. (fixed)

Check the current data when MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) connector is removed. What is
different thing?

Practice 4
PCSV
Select “Throttle open, Purge Control Solenoid Valve duty, Engine RPM, MAP sensor” on current
data and check PCSV control depending on engine load by using graph function.

Rev:0 Jan,’08 18
BK Engine (Theta 2.0 TCI)

[Normal driving condition (=idling)]

PCSV shows 95% duty after full acceleration and decrease continuously.
At the same time MAP sensor signal show 0.4 bar. (intake manifold is vacuum status so purge
control enable even though turbo charger is working)

[Full acceleration condition]

PCSV shows 3.0% duty (fully close status) when full acceleration.
At the same time MAP sensor signal show 1.1 bar. (intake manifold is pressure status so purge
control disable cause of turbo charger working)
