those students who have a
more difficult time meeting
expectations an incentive to do

Agenda
• Please make sure you check your child’s
agenda each night and sign it.

• Your child is responsible for writing down the


agenda sentence/homework and color each
day.

• Please try NOT to write transportation notes


in the agenda if at all possible. You can find
the transportation changes form on my
website.
Grades
• This is the first year that the
students will receive progress
reports and report cards with
a grading scale.
• A: 90-100
• B: 80-89
• C: 70-79
• F: 69 and below
Friday
Folders
• Most graded papers and school flyers will
come home on Friday in your child’s Friday
Folder.
• Papers in the “Homework/Return to School”
section of your child’s folder should be
returned to school.
• Please keep the papers in the “Keep at
Home” section at home and go over them
with your child.
• Send the Friday Folder back to school on
Monday.
Binders
• Generally, binders stay
at school throughout
the week. If your child
brings theirs home.
Please do not take out
any of the papers in
their binders.
English-Language Arts
This year, the county has
adopted a Balanced
Literacy Program. It
consists of Reading, Writing,
Word Study, and
Assessment.

Avery Mission Statement


It is our mission at Avery Elementary to create a safe
and enriching environment where students and faculty
unite in learning through collaboration, independent
thinking and applying knowledge. In doing this, we believe
students will be empowered to succeed as life long
learners and productive citizens for the future.
