testing equipment listed is not required. The same financial benefit to the employer as above
shall apply for non establishment of the field laboratory in this instance as well.

Deduction shall commence in the next interim certificate to the Contractor, has reached thirty
percent (30%) of the Accepted Contract Amount. This amount to be recovered from each
interim certificate and shall be calculated based on the following amortization formula,
Amount of amortization shall be calculated using the following formula.
Y =[(X-0.3)*Z)] I (0.9-0.3) where:
Y = Cumulative repayment.
Z = Total amount of deduction.
X = Percentage value of the cumulative work done expressed as a fraction.

90.14 STATIONERY FOR THE ENGINEER

90.14.1 Description
The Contractor shall provide to the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineers
offices all stationery as required and duly requisitioned by authorised personnel. Stationery
shall include all consumable items of the office and shall include paper, printing materials (eg.
Printer cartridges, copier toner etc.) and all the general office requisites. This item excludes
parts etc required for repair or replacement in equipment supplied by the Contractor for the
offices. Such parts would be included in the Contractor's obligation for maintenance of
offices.

90.14.2 Measurement
Stationery for the RE and ARE offices shall not be measured but payment shall be based on
the original invoices and receipts for stationery material ordered and received by the
Engineers Representative's staff. The Contractor's overhead cost for this item is paid through
the percentage amount quoted by the Contractor to manage the provisional sum items in the
Bill of Quantities.

90.14.3 Payment
Payment for stationery shall be the actual net invoiced price of stationery provided (with
suppliers' discounts deducted). The payment shall be made through the provisional sum item
provided in the Bill of Quantities for this item.
90.15 PROVISION OF HOTEL ACCOMMODATION FOR CHIEF RESIDENT ENGINEER
RESIDENT ENGINEER AND ASSISTANT RESIDENT ENGINEER
90.15.1 Description
The Contractor shall be responsible for providing hotel or other approved accommodation 1,

(including meals etc but excluding alcoholic beverages) for the Chief Resident Engineer,
Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer during the mobilisation period (within
two weeks from date of commencement) until the housing and furnishing specified in the
Contract are ready for occupation by the staff. The standard of the hotel accommodation shall
be to the approval of the Engineer. ·

90.15.2 Measurement

Provision of hotel accommodation shall be measured as the number of days of


accommodation provided. The accommodation provided after the time that the houses are to
be completed for occupation will not be measured and shall be provided at the Contractor's
expense.

90.15.3 Payment

i). Connection and subsequent disconnection of electrical and water services or


alternative provisions for same and Provision of drainage systems for both sewerage
and surface water.

Payment for each house shall be made upon satisfactory provision of each house, supplying of
all the furniture specified and upon occupation by the intended staff of the Engineer based on
the monthly rate approved by the Engineer under the Lump sum item provided as specified in
theBOQ.

Payment will be made based on the monthly rate quoted by the Contractor for each month.

Payment for furniture, fittings and equipment for each type of house shall include
procurement delivery and installation of all the items detailed in Appendix 5 and upon
satisfactory installation and acceptance by the Engineer of all the items to be provided based
on either the lump sum item quoted by the Contractor or the lump sum amount approved by
the Engineer under the Lump sum item provided as specified in the BOQ.
Payment will be made based on the monthly rate quoted by the Contractor for each month.

90.13 SITE TESTING LABORATORY AND EQUIPMENT

90.13.1 Description
Main Laboratory
The Contractor shall establish and fully maintain a main laboratory for quality assurance of
Works close to the RE/ARE offices in consultation with the Engineer. The building shall
conform to the requirements given in Appendix. 8. The laboratory shall be capable of carrying
out the range of tests that could be expected to be required of a construction project such as
this. The Laboratory is required for testing materials used for the permanent works. The
laboratory shall be equipped with the testing equipment as given in Appendix 9. The
laboratory facility shall be ready for use within the mobilisation period.

Field Laboratory
In addition to the main laboratory, the Contractor shall establish a field laboratory as required
and having a floor area not less than 30 m2• The field laboratory shall be equipped with the
testing equipment referred in Appendix 9.
The Engineer's staff will also be required to have access to and the use the testing facilities
available in both main and field laboratories.

90.13.2 Measurement and Payment


No separate payment shall be paid for the provision of the main. and field laboratory with
necessary equipment. The cost of providing this facility for quality control of the works is
deemed to be included in Contractor's unit rates for the construction works.

In the event a Contractor is awarded more than one contract which are in close proximity and
if the Contractor decide to use one main laboratory or one field laboratory for work on two or
more contracts, then the Contractor shall provide a financial benefit to the Employer in the
following manner.

1. For each Main laboratory not provided a deduction of Rs.4,000,000


2. For each Field laboratory not provided a deduction ofRs.500,000

If the Contractor opts to establish the main laboratory within the contract site to carry out all
testing requirements from the main laboratory then the field laboratory including the field
