ACTUAL JOB DESCRIPTION

OR HEAD NURSE
1. Makes rounds on the area of responsibility
2. Makes schedules of her staff
3. Evaluates performance of the staff monthly
4. Represents her area in the nursing service meetings and other hospital meetings
when necessary
5. Conducts meetings to the OR staff when necessary
6. Sees to it that all equipments are in order and properly kept and supplies are
available
7. Makes a request at the CSR and asked for an approval to accounting office if the
supplies and equipments are defective and not available
8. Performs nursing procedures to the patient include catheterization, surgical
preparation and positioning, charting and carry out doctor’s orders
9. Acts as a scrub and circulating nurse during operation
10. Performs other duties and functions as assigned like assisting at ER department or
other area when needed

OR Staff Nurse
1. Prepares all supplies and equipments for the procedure using sterile techniques
2. Acts as a scrub and circulating nurse during operation
3. Performs after care to the patient after the operation
4. Receives endorsement from the nursing unit
5. Performs nursing procedures to the patient include catheterization, surgical
preparation and positioning
6. Administers medications and treatments to the patient
7. Carry out doctor’s order
8. Performs charting and completes all require medical and operative chart forms
9. Attends meeting and other hospital activities conducted by the nursing service
personnel and admin personnel.
10. Performs other duties and functions as assigned like assisting at ER department or
other area when needed
