Total time 10’ (conversation 8’)


A teacher from the school will be present during the test.

PROCEDURE

1. Greetings
2. Ice-breaker
3. Picture/poster/object related questions
4. Expand to related subject areas
5. Finish conversation
6. Farewell

 Greetings between the EOI teacher and the student.


 The EOI teacher initiates the conversation setting the student at ease and providing
opportunities to interact.
 The students may bring pictures, drawings, photos, diagrams, small toys or other useful
objects that foster communication.
 Students should talk about a theme they are personally interested in (memorized
recitation should be avoided)
 Students can show understanding through simple gestures and actions and short
responses are accepted.
 Support will be provided by the EOI teacher in the form of repetition, rephrasing and
paraphrasing.
 Students should ask and answer simple questions about personal information and
everyday life.
 Students are expected to describe experiences and events at a basic level.
 The EOI teacher will exchange information, facts or details during the conversation.
