Banana Festival, as the name suggest the festival is all about bananas that grow
abundantly in the area. This festival is celebrated during March 18th to 19th
every year.

De Galera Festival showcases the rich historical, cultural heritage and natural
resources of Puerto Galera.

o San Teodoro
1. Adyawan festival
This festival is celebrated coinciding with the Feast of Immaculate Conception.
The activity displays the many uses of coconut – from its leaves, trunks, down to
its root. Adyawan is one variety of this “tree of life” that is common among the
Iraya-Mangyans of San Teodoro. The festival further highlights the culture and
tradition of this indigenous group.
2. San teodoro day and immaculate conception feast
Tayakad dancing event: Stilts masters systematically march and sway with the
music to the delight of the audience; a funny and very entertaining event to see.
3. Coco festival
A religious festival honoring the Immaculate Conception. It features activities
such as street dancing, parade of floats, etc., centered on the town’s agricultural
bounty: Coconut.

o Calapan
1. Kalap Festival
The festival commemorates the founding anniversary of the City of Calapan
highlighted by street dancing and colorful float parade depicting the history of
Calapan and the origin of its name from which the festival derived its name. A
merry mixture of socio-civic, cultural, historical and sports activities are part of
the run of events.
2. Sto. Nino de Calapan Festival
Calapan City celebrates its Fiesta on New Year’s Day. Fiesta activities begin
during the first week of December with a series of religious activities. The
celebration extends towards the Christmas season laced with nightly cultural
presentation, yuletide activities topped by the lighting of the giant Christmas
tree and fireworks, as well as agro-industrial and tourism fairs.
3. Mardi Gras
The ultimate street party that takes place along the entire stretch of J. P. Rizal
Street. The hypnotic lights and upbeat music, together with various fun-filled
activities, will bring together a bevy of party-goers to party the night away.
4. Friday Nyt sa Bagong Calapan
Sit back and relax by watching free movies. Groove through the night with the
various bands filling the evening with rhythm and beats. With the good music,
food and drinks, paint the town red, Calapan style.
o Naujan
1. Araw Ng Naujan
The festival commemorates the founding anniversary of the Municipality of
Naujan highlighted by Palaro ng Lahi, a historical sports activities as run of
events.
2. San Nicolas De Tolentino Festival / Pistang Bayan
Naujan celebrates its Fiesta on September 10. Fiesta activities begin during the
first week of September with a series of religious activities as well as agro-
industrial and tourism fairs.

o Victoria
1. Kapakyanan Festival
These fruits are shipped in large quantities to Metro Manila and neighboring
provinces. Victoria is presently known as the “fruit basket “of Oriental Mindoro.
Kapakyanan Festival is a fruit festival highlighting the abundance of fruit
produce of the town. Kapakyanan is a Mangyan term which means
“kasaganaan” or abundance.

o Socorro
1. Socorro - Pakapya Agtike Festival
In commemorating the town fiesta, a festival called “Pakapya-Agtike” was
made. It is a ceremonial tradition practiced by Tadyawan Mangyans as a
thanksgiving ritual to praise the Almighty for bountiful harvests.
2. Town Fiesta in honor of the Holy Family, Foundation Day
o Pola
1. Sab’uyan Festival / Feast Of St. John The Baptist
Legend says that a long time ago, a fisherman saw the statue of St. John the
Baptist which became Pola’s patron saint. Sab’uyan Festival takes place every
June 24 in honor of St. John the Baptist whose image is taken from the church
and carried on procession accompanied by a band and set on a beautifully
decorated boat to the sea where it was first found. The Sab’uyan begins. People
in the boat throw seawater to one another chanting “Viva San Juan Bautista”.
After the procession at the sea, the image is carried around town. Dancers from
various groups follow the image. The Sab’uyan continues. The splashing of
water is received with good humor for the people believe that being doused
brings good health, luck and happiness. The procession ends at the church
plaza.

1. Bahaghari Festival
The yearly Bahaghari Festival is remembrance of the importance of the rainbow
in the history of the town of Pinamalayan. In the celebration, the people partake
in street dancing competitions, cultural presentations, religious and cultural
activities, and products & trade fair. The said activities display the values of the
people, gratitude of their cultural heritage, the strength to face up to life‘s
challenges and unity and harmony as in the many colors of the rainbow.
2. Centurion Festival
The Centurion Festival has evolved into an event that’s uniquely Pinamalayan –
colorful, fun and tourist-centric. Summer is the only time of the year where one
may walk among living, breathing praetorians and have their picture taken with
these larger-than-life characters garbed in rainbow hues as they take to the
streets for one whole week. The festival shall culminate in a contest where the
best-garbed and most convincing Centurion shall bag the much-coveted grand
prize.

The cool December nights are set ablaze as Pinamalayan lights up in yards upon
yards of Tivoli lights and the biggest and brightest and most creative lanters this
side of the archipelago.

o Gloria
1. Kawayanan Festival
Aside from its large produce of rice and coconut, Gloria has an exclusive
reputation of possessing vast tracts of land growing different varieties of
bamboo. The staging of the Kawayanan festival focuses on the affluence of
“kawayan” (bamboo) in the area. Similar to other festivals, it is being
celebrated with street dancing performances mostly by students from different
levels. Costumes are also made of bamboo materials. A trade fair is likewise a
special attraction with its varied display of products made of bamboos.

1. Basudani Festival
It is participated in by the different sectors of the community from school
children to senior citizens. The event is annually held every January 19, the
traditional town fiesta in honor of its Patron Sto. Nino

o Bongabong
1. Sulyog Festival
Said products are the main agricultural crops of the municipality. Presented in a
street dance, Sulyog is a culmination of thanksgiving rites in honor “Bathala”.
The performers portray the harvesting of bananas and coconut, extracting
coconut from shell and dried for copra, and the assorting of bananas for sale,
and offering of these products to Bathala.

1. Mangyan Festival
A solemn tribute to the richness of the town’s natural habitat – Palakaya-
Mansalenses is most dedicated to the immeasurable yields of the seas, where
the townsfolk largely depended for living since earlier time. Hence, Palakaya
(fishing) and Mansalenses (the people) is a festive offering beyond the
boundaries of the shores.

1. Sipag Festival
Palay and fruits like bananas, rambutan, lansones, mangoes, and aquatic
harvests, and the different vegetables that abound in its farms. Sipag Festivals is
basically a product festival featuring the various produce of the locality. S stands
for saging (banana); I for isda (fish); P is for prutas (fruits); PA for palay; and G
for gulay (vegetables). The term “sipag” embodies the industriousness and
ingenuity of the people for which Roxas is proud of.
