Environmental impacts (good and adverse) and mitigation measures

It is very important to have environment into consideration before the construction process
starts. Planning the project properly will limit the environment impacts and save us a lot of
time as fewer mistakes will happen. Using appropriate software for planning and following
the guidelines (Eurocode) will keep the project running smoothly and less environmental
impacts.
This part will be covering 4 major assessment:

 Traffic
 Pollution
 Noise
 Economy

Dust/ Air Pollution

During the construction process, there will be dust generated as a result of earthwork like
digging or excavation and while clearing. Moreover, during levelling, trenching and
movement of vehicles transporting materials and equipment to the work areas. Significance
of how much dust will be generated will rely on meteorological and ground situations at the
time and area of activity. However, in normal conditions dust can be confined to within few
hundred meters of the work area. Potential inconvenience impacts on the nearby
accommodation and mosque due to the construction work. Additionally, health risks and
infection to humans might happen.
Furthermore, several trees are in the proposed region of work and we will have to either cut
them down or relocate them but all this depends on whether our budget is enough for
other ideas.

Economic Benefits
Real estate always have a positive impact on the country economy as it increases the local income
revenue for the government and allows for new jobs available for the local community. Owners of
business also make more money so there money for salaries and wages.

Erosion/ Soil
Stabilizing of soil measures have to be taken into consideration during the construction process.
However, it is not a necessity but it is better to do it for any projects that excavation work is
required. For erosion controls, it has to be designed and installed after the completion of the
projects to avoid the soil of the structure being exposed.
NOISE & VIBRATION
Site preparation work, concrete pours, vehicle movements and equipment used in
construction will be a main source of the noise generated. Due to the site being in close
proximity to accommodation/ residential buildings and religious centre we cannot carry out
all kind of works at any times. Certain types of work that would generate high noise levels
will take place at suitable times for instance 7am to 7pm to minimise the inconvenience
caused and it will be for a relatively short time. It is more likely to happen during the
daytime. During the night, no noise activity would take place except for few acknowledged
occasions. I.e. concrete pouring will sometimes take place at night or outside the restricted
time due to the effect of temperature but for that a formal approval will be obtained from
the authorities.
Potential high vibration feeling due to construction activity maybe be disturbing to humans
and maybe cause damages to close by buildings if no enough precaution is taken.
