Affectionately know as the "South Dallas Mayor", Jason Davis is a tenor

saxophonist, composer, and producer who is currently recording his first full
length album as a solo artist. It's about groove based music with a group sound
that supports and encourages movement.

It all started when...

Jason Davis grew up in Dallas and began his musical career in 1984. He was
classically trained as a clarinetist, but as his love for music grew, he craved
more jazz style training. He found that training in gospel and blues roots. As the
years progressed, he was blessed to study with many legendary artists such as:
Sylvester Wallace
Dean Hill
Norman Fisher
Tom Burchill
Curtis Bradshaw
Prof. James Williams Sr.
Rose Coleman
Uriah Ellion Jr.
As a composer, Davis has published original Big Band charts and released
hundreds of songs on the web. As a saxophonist, Jason Davis has recorded with many
popular acts. In 2015, he was even awarded the Jazz Innovator of the Year award by
the Dallas Jazz Appreciation Month organization.

What's going on now...

Jason spends the majority of his time producing and recording music for various
artists. This "Texas Tenor" also gives lessons for saxophone, of course, and
several other musical instruments including flute, piano, bass, drums and
harmonica. He leads a 21-piece Jazz Big Band for special occasions and performs
regularly with his own trio. Audiences and fellow musicians say they can feel the
soul in his live performances.
His platform as a seasoned musician, is used to teach future generations the
true story and progression of blues and jazz. He continues to serve as a mentor
locally and internationally to many up and coming musicians and artists.

"His sound is jazz breaking through the funk and never settling for just a solo."
