1.TIS -Tata Interactive Systems

LD and remedial education techniques; the company has sponsored and supported
research studies of LD-affected students.
2.CBFL-Computer Based Functional Literacy

CBFL is a multimedia-oriented software package, an e-learning system for helping


adult illiterates who speak the language to learn the skills of the 3 Rs — reading,
writing and arithmetic.Successfully deployed in India and abroad, the Computer
Based Functional Literacy (CBFL) solution is an innovative teaching method
conceptualized, designed and developed by TCS, based on the theory of Cognition
and Laws of Perception.This Corporate Sustainability initiative is trying to address
and overcome impediments of illiteracy.

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) - Mumbai


-In 1957, India's first digital computer, TIFRAC(TIFRAC (Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research Automatic Calculator) was built in TIFR.

Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC)

-first software research centre in Pune India established by TCS in 1981.It is also
the largest R&D facility among the network of Innovation Labs at TCS

Indian Institute of Science (IISc)

Institute is concerned with research in frontier areas and education in current


technologically important areas.IISc was the first Indian institute to feature on
Times Higher Education World University Rankings for engineering and
technology

Scholarships and Other Initiatives


Tata Education and Development Trust - a philanthropic affiliate of India’s Tata
Group - a $25 million endowment has been established that will allow Cornell to
provide financial aid to undergraduate students from India.

The JN Tata Endowment for the Higher Education of Indians has been helping
Indian students since 1892 with loan scholarships for higher studies.

The Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Trust, which awards scholarships to Indian
