This poem questions whether one can truly believe what others say without proof and explores the complexities and motivations behind lying. It asks if the listener would want to know if they had been lied to, even if the lies made them feel good, or if they are afraid of their real self being discovered. The poem concludes by directly asking if the subject had lied and why, but also states that if they deny it, the speaker will still be at peace.

though I’m not able to prove what I say? Will you deceive me when I listen to you, assuming that what you tell me is true because I want to believe you, anyway? Would you desire to know what I lied if all lies I told, made you feel good and are you afraid that I find what you hide fearing that I'd dislike your real truths, changing the way I think about you? Some of our lies touched the basics of life and some have been used to beautify facts Some people lie when they’re ashamed or shy and some because their intentions are bad Did you lie to me? Tell me why and when! But if you say you didn’t, I’ll still be content.
